As I was headed home this evening I called my dad to talk UT football to pass the time. We were sitting there doing what every Tennessee fan does these days and were complaining about why CBJ was still there and what was Currie thinking?

I have come up with a theory that my dad thought wasn't to crazy. What if the reason CBJ is still there is a power move? Like Currie saying we make the decisions and he will be gone when I say he is gone. The fans aren't going to decide when I do my job.

Just a thought. Let me know what ya think.

Wow can’t believe no one has mentioned this.

I think you’re really on to something.

Has anyone else heard rumors about Jon Gruden?

That's fine. And when the new coach is hired, we'll know who deserves the praise or needs to be held accountable.

If that were the case, and I think it unlikely, why would any AD pick a fight with a fan base that has supported a program through this decade of ineptitude? Would be one if the dumbest ideas I could possibly imagine.

I think he genuinely feels like Butch has earned the right to finish the season. Right or wrong, that's all that makes sense to me.

If he feels like he needs some sort of stunt to remind himself that he makes the decisions, not me as I sit here eating Doritos, we are in serious f***ing trouble.

If he is that insecure, he will not last long here. I’ll hope this theory is not true.

Well...he does kind of have the power and WILL say whether butch stays or goes. But because he isn’t on every radio and television station responding to fans cries for answers when THEY think it’s good timing having no knowledge of how to actually run a major athletic department, ignorant people assume he’s doing nothing. It’s unbelieveable the depths at which people cannot imagine what actually goes into these decisions but will cry because firing the coach isn’t working into the fans timeline...THAT is most baffling

The process is dragging as UT and sexton negotiate an exit package. And, of course, it seems like the AD is dedicated to making our beloved university mediocre. It's just making me sick.

Whats the plot twist?

And what difference does it make?

Obvioisly, Currie is doing things on his timeline and not "the fans."

Currie is a novice in a big boy position trying to assert authority. I think you’re absolutely right. And it will blow up in his face.

Everyone can see that fans are very unhappy including Currie. However I doubt he is ever on VN, twitter, ect looking at all frustrated fans comments.

Currie doesn't know what we think or are saying, and prob doesn't even care. He also isn't going to do something just because we want him to do it; nor is he not going to do something be cause the fans want him to.

I understand that it will always be on the AD terms, but what my point is that we can all agree that the Tennessee fan base is an extremely critical fan base.

They have been calling for CBJ's head and the way we have been coming off is like spoiled brats doing "holding our breath" hashtag movement to do it.

So, my point is maybe Currie is sitting there saying, "We will make the move when I say so, not when the fans tell me too."

I am not saying this is the only reason why he is holding off, but like 0.5% of the reason why. Some of ya'll read into stuff way too critically I am just trying to have a different conversation then talking about Gruden 24/7.

I would say to athletic director, remember Rome. Remember the Gladiators. The gladiator who won the support of the people was always victorious in the end and gain his freedom

I do. He is still going to all the games with me as well.

Crazy how a 5 years ago I wouldn't have wanted to go to a game with him because I'd just want to party and now that's the only person I take with me.

One day you blink and Mom and Dad are gone and you’re left with a bunch of “should’ve’s and could’ve’s”. Sounds like you understand that. I didn’t and it never leaves you.

I think we all try to read into everything and perceive it how it relates and effects us personally, and it doesnt.

Curries is not making decisions to spite fans, the thought is just dumb. He has advisors and boosters and for whatever reason, he has decided that now is not the time. That reason could be money, could be the LSU interim effect, players opinions etc, who knows. Its a tough spot for him and CBJ to be in, to try to hold this season together for the players, while not making a public statement that he will be fired at years end.

The fact is we watch volnation with endless threads being made and it makes us madder and madder because we are not getting what we want when we want it. (Just like the BBB petition.) It makes no difference at all if he is fired today or after the Vandy game, everyone knows he is not coming back this year.

But none the less, we will all sit on vn and whine and complain like we have all the answers. Our frustration will build with the creation of each "new" thread, saying the same things we complained abot yesterday. We will create idiotic movements, because we dont think someone is listening to us.
Then we will complain when a new coach is hired, because volnation told us it would be Gruden when we all knew it wouldnt be. But we will all worship him after his press conference. Hopefully this time we will hire someone how knows how to coach football.
Until then, we should stop acting like we know more about being the AD of a 126 million dollar department, than the guy picked to do it. He knows information that if we knew that same information, his decisions might make more sense.
