Where to start?

The penalties. At least 6 or 7 false starts, 2 unsportsmanlike, illegal substitutions, illegal formations.
The false starts came at the worst times, making short 3rd downs into 3 and 8,9,10. The 2 unsportsmanlike penalties cost us dearly. I could understand a couple false starts (2-3), with the piecemeal OL....not 6 or 7. Absolutely unacceptable. Who bears responsibility? Both players and coaches...except for the unsportsmanlike. I like JJ and MC as much as anyone, but those were ....hummm....just stupid and very costly. And JJ's was on purpose.

QB play: JG is as tough as anyone and gives his all every time. The Auburn game was by possible because to receivers went up and got every 50/50 ball that he threw. His inability to read defenses, pick up on blitzes, staring down receivers and see the field is very limiting. The isn't a guess, tv commentators and former players have spoke to these areas of weakness. KC, in his limited playing time, has shown just the opposite.

Off. Play Calling: CH called plays to JG's strength and it worked....in the first half. Missing open receivers, over throws and holding the ball, in the second half, didn't work.

Def. Play Calling: WOW, just terrible the entire game. Time and time again, our LB core crashed the line, while the RB just cruised between tackle and TE or around the TE...no contain, none. DB play, hummm, they are still running to catch up to the receivers. Man coverage is good if you have good CBs, AND they stay with the receivers for the entire play.

Our coaching and discipline lost this game. Out coached, no adjustments, penalties = SCAR winning the game. UT should have won by at least two scores. Some players need a sit down conversation, and some coaches need to look in the mirror. I believe in our current staff, but....they still have quite a bit to learn.

This was the best offensive first half, despite all the miscues, that I have seen UT play this year. But, the coaching staff dropped the ball....from the last minute in the first half, to the end of the game. My question is.......is the coaching staff all on the same page? They see more that we do in practice, however, are they playing to win now or coaching for the future?

A little of both. Otherwise they may be playing backup QB more.
