Adams: Some names to toss around while you're bored : Columns : GoVolsXtra.com

John Adam's proved once again that he is a terrible sports writer. I can't wait until UT returns to glory and the talk of the town is the offensive/defensive statistics, championship runs, and all-american/sec performances. When the good times return, there will no longer be a need for negative reporting, embarassing satires, and idiotic sports analysis. I dread a day when we return to the national spotlight, and a major nat network uses this stooge's local perspective. The only "funny" in a Adam's article is the clown's name at the top.

Adams thinks these guys are qualified to coach at UT and is surpised at the lack of rumors around their names.

1) Rich Rod- This is a perfect example of why John Adams sucks and isn't funny. I imagine he noticed us FANS having fun and joking about landing an unrealistic super coach. Names like The Bear, Jimmy Johnson, and Tony Dungy were hilarious. More wishful thinking was used on some more realistic canidates like Gruden, Stoops, and Cowher. What John doesn't realize is WE are the FANS, we can wish and guess all we want with or without seriousness. Only difference between our delusion and Adam's ignorance is this: the coaches we brought up were/are some of the BEST coaches in all of football. The fact that they would take a job at UT was what made it funny and interesting. The coaches on his list are embarassing. Leading off with Dick Rod, a guy who isn't on a single Tennessean's top 10 list, is just an insult to our genuine optimism and not even funny. John, you are the 30 year old at the prom post party. You don't fit in and and you never can. You just need to leave and not come back.

2) June Jones- This right here is a delibirate attempt to make us cuss. Adams has heard the resistance to Leach's offense and read it on the message boards. Everybody knows that June Jones offense is even more wackier than Leach and only said this to piss those people off.

3) Hiring Petrino is like sex with a stripper, would do it in a heartbeat if the consequences weren't so devestating. Petrino is good, but he has no idea what his career objectives are or what state he currently lives in. No matter who you root for at what level, fans of the game are sick of seeing selfish coaches royally screw good fans, storied programs, and unfortunate players. Good or not, Petrino has been bad for football recently. Anyone who would recommend Petrino to the team they write about is messed up. You make a living covering the UT personalities but not the actual sports or games so I can see how your career could benefit from a $4million circus in town.

4) Lovie and Muschamp are the only two guys that fit on both Adam's list and the fans wish list. Adam's is right, Muschamp should be at least considered. Before TT beat UTX Muschamp was one of the hottest names in the nation. It's very surprising how under the radar his name has become, and those were the type of canidates Adam's set out to identify. Same way with Lovie, he's like Gruden but more realistic. He coached in a superbowl but lost and he coached at UT (but longer than CJG). No mention of CLS thus far to my knowledge. But it wouldn't be an Adam's article if he didn't consistently make an idiot of himself in every single paragraph. Muschamp would never sign up to be the coach in waiting at his alma-maters rival school. He could have a HC job somewhere in the nation this year. It is likely he lands his dream job at UGA in the next 5 years. So why would he make a horizontal move that complicates his availability and jeopardizes getting his dream job. By reading this, I am positive that Adam's doesn't know Muschamp is a UGA grad and has a masters from Auburn. He could veritically move into headcoaching this year for sure. Its likely he could even land at Auburn. But he's going to come to UT to coach our defense and screw up everything he's worked for.

Give me a freaking break Adams. How about Jim Leavitt or Paul Johnson who are legitimate canidates. Every guy you mentioned is either not wanted, really not wanted, not coming, or not stupid.

Your inability to understand satire means you are now the caller for UT's coach.

I understand it completely, but JA is not the guy to determine when fans are being delusional or not.

Comparing Muschamp taking a DC job for $1 million was making fun of everyone who thought Gruden would take $5 million to come to UT. The connection, horizontal move or demotion with a significant pay increase.

It's cool to read Chaucer when you have no point of view and not the butt of the joke. But calling people delusional when a coach has yet to be named is kind of trigger happy if you ask me.

If there was a time people wanted legit info, it is now.
JA would rather go over our heads and mock the entire situation.

I agree. JA needs to go. Can we get enough support and get him kicked out as sports editor. When's the last time he won a national championship? Or had a winning record. It is easy to throw stones when you don't have a house. Now that PF is ousted he has lost his compass.

How about a good sports article JA?

GO VOLSSSSSSSSSSSSS:rock:

The fans have and are delusional in some cases regarding the coaching search. Me included at times. Well, maybe not completely dilusional but highly speculative. So what, don't take his article so seriously. I have a hard time taking Adams seriously most of the time anyhow.

I like JA. He's really the only one who consistantly spoke the truth about the state of the program.

John Adams and Mike Strange are the only sports writers over there who don't have their heads so far up the University's rear end that they can't see the true state of the program. I like Adams' columns, especially the one last week about Randall Cobb and Brandon Warren.

When JA ripped Fulmer a new one before this season, he endeared himself to me forever as a quality sports writer.

It's his job as a columninst to play the Devil's advocate occasionally and spark a little controversy. I don't agree with half of what John Adams writes but it is, at least, entertaining. Let's face it, it's all about advertising sales and new suscribers.

...and bartender, pour my friend at the end of the bar a double... and put it on my tab. He needs to relax a little bit down there.

NICE NEW AVATAR.

And after reading that I am awake.
That is a compliment!

You going to post that in every thread today? Ive seen it at least 3 times now. :stop:

The last game of the season would be the last game I watched if they hired Petrino! I would take another 20 years of Phil before I ever believe that man is anything more than a money hustling Biotch and a gutless loser!
