When you get to the one yard line, have a package where you line up under center and have a fullback. I think the percentages are like 99% scoring with two or three Qb sneaks, but then you still have Hurd with a lead blocker on one of the attempts. Just saying!

We could not have been more predictable but, heck, bad stuff happens and you make good stuff out of it.

I was shouting at the tv that a couple Qb sneaks would have scored before the infamous 14 point swing fumble. Clemson lost to fsu last year or year before on same situation. I'm appalled as a former coach that we gave up a fumble in that situation. If I had Hurd, I'd damn sure I had a fb package in must yargage.

Agree 100%. That said, I'm too happy to give a flying eff right now.

I'd get a new Qb if he fumbled that much by taking a basic snap under center. Unreal the logic.

Do you remember when we played Cincinnati and they had forth and one several times and couldn't convert. They do not go under center in this system.

I personally prefer the play action pass for a wide open TD to a dragging TE/WR/RB myself. But your point is well taken. If we're gonna run it up the gut there, run a formation that gives you a chance to be successful.

Best call of the game were the other times we were at the goal line and went gun, it worked.

We were not at the one foot line idiot during those times. I agree with 4 yard line plays being in gun, but evidently just because we won, your ok with everything that transpired. I am not. I'm assuming you would be one of the many calling for Jones head had we lost by a td or less.

Hope he reads that... as well, Coach, when you are blessed with a mobile Qb, let him mobile.

Just stop. Had we lined up under center and fumbled, the exact same people would be calling that stupid.
I also don't blame a player on that one. If you never call forward progress and just allow
the defense to stand and molest the back, the fb will come out eventually.

I don't like the shotgun/spread offense in short yardage or on the goal line.

It's not logical to give up 5 yards when all you need is a foot or two to begin with.

I'm actually shocked I have detractors in this post. Can anyone give a convincing argument that on the one foot line, the best play is not a Qb sneak and if that's not the best play, then leading Hurd with a fb is not the second best play? Well maybe the fans are too ignorant to understand the inner workings of fundamental football. I'll leave this one alone.

We finally beat Georgia and you start a negative thread about 1 play and you're shocked. "too ignorant" I believe was the wording.

We worked Dobbs fairly hard tonight. I'm sure that they trusted our rather large back. If it didn't work, they were most likely counting on 3 more downs to try different formations.
I'm not totally disagreeing with you but I never thought Hurd would fumble there either.
That was 1 call in a game that we won after being down 24-3.
I could tear any coach apart the way we do ours if I broke down every play in every game. It's fb, that's just the way it goes.

Hurd was mashed in the backfield before the H-back, who I think was lined up behind the tackle, could even get over and block. Dobbs should have seen that coming and changed the play--but I don't think he ever audibles, does he?

I'm with you. It was a horrible call. We had our backup center in who let 84 in untouched. I line up under center and do a sneak. Or a least line up in the I and give it to hurd with Ellis or 47 lead blocking. Horrible goal line scheme.
