Please DON'T start Nico [Nico merged]

I don’t care about his completion percentage. I’m surprised it’s not higher when most very pass is thrown with a yard of the los.
Ok you really need to learn to look up stats. Milton’s average yards per attempt currently sits at 7.4.

I'm not being "mean" or anything and truly respect his effort and dedication... but he just isn't very talented.
In Lane's defense, I don't think anyone considered him that talented. After Cooper had the procedure, all I saw at VN was "Next man up!" like that's how this works.

The lines need a million reps to become a unit and Lane is only marginal at playing center. As you say, he's a good kid, a local guy who stepped up when we needed him but he's not really a starting SEC lineman.

I think he slaps the "Today I will give my all....." sign as honestly as anyone out there but your all isn't always SEC level.

Milton is absolutely the problem. Lol we got a top notch guru here. 🤣😂🤡
He is a problem. Not the problem. Again please go listen to people who actually know football because you don’t. Jonathan Crompton has forgotten more football than you will ever know. So has Fred White and Jason Swain. But hey keep thinking he is the only problem.

Again! Milton looked like a shoe in for the Heisman Trophy in the Orange Bowl. What happened? What hasn’t happened? Besides Right Tackle, this is about the same offensive unit.

It’s 💯 a mind thing. If all goes as planned, he’s phenomenal. If things breakdown and he has to process the move, he’s screwed.

Just the facts!
I'll tell you the ONE factor from the Orange bowl that is different...Hendon Hooker !!!
Milton no longer has Hooker on the sideline to 'coach' him between series on how to play fast and be that mental check for him during the game.

Honestly, Milton would have been a stud and 1st round shoe-in if he would have went somewhere that plays a pro-style offense.

A big part of the problem is Mays has not played this year. He sets the O line and calls the blocking schemes based on the Defense. His being out has been a big cause of our Offensive issues. It all starts with the O line.

I don’t buy it. I think we’ve got a Jonathan Crompton situation. He might eventually get it, but he’s just not going to pick apart a defense. It’s got to be spoon fed and kept simple. Some of the game Management decisions (the 2 point play, the audible with 04 on the clock, throwing a check down on a free play, not catching Florida subbing on 4th and 1) just don’t indicate awareness.

Kiffin did get Crompton drafted. 😁

You mean somewhere like Michigan? LOL Good grief.

Milton is a problem, but is nowhere near the biggest problem.

The Florida game exposed even more the extent of our other flaws for sure. That said there’s no reason Milton and the offense shouldn’t have lit up UVA and AP yet we struggled throwing the ball.

OC Joey Halzle said there's nothing about the operation of the Tennessee offense that would improve with Nico Iamaleava at QB right now because Joe Milton III is "operating at a really high level."

I'm surprised he finds anything about this offense "operating at a really high level."
Perhaps he's referring to Mincey.......

You have to laugh a little in this, but I'm not certain the offense we're running CAN operate at any higher level and that's part of the problem.

I hear myself whining like a toddler, but I want my exciting, wide receivers getting in the seams, running backs gashing the holes when the D backs up, deep balls when they sell out to the run offense back.

And I'm gonna swing my cane at the clouds until the sun comes out.

The problem is his YPA is probably around 7 vs about 10 last year. That requires better pass protection, but I’ve been surprised we’re not better getting some of the intermediate throws.
3 deep drops change the YPA by as much as 3 - 5 yard… not a useful stat honestly

Could be due to the O line not being able to give much time…

Against UVA and AP? Plenty of opportunities in the Florida game even with a bad O-line to complete passes downfield but he didn’t. On 4th and 6 he threw it in the dirt.

The date is still small sample thru 3 weeks, but it all evens out. Drops happen every game. Guys catch 5 yard outs and go 50 yards.

I think it's much more on the o-line than the QB, but Milton needs to show more as a 6th year Sr.

Milton - Heisman Candidate??? - I guess him throwing the ball 80 yards like 100s of other people can makes him that candidate. In the Orange Bowl he did have a supporting cast but now he has nothing but McCoy and watching him in the hurry up is nauseating. One game doesn't make a Heisman Candidate. He shouldn't be on the field at this point but there really is no other choice than playing a green Nico. I think that's the direction we should be heading but time will tell. If we continue to play we are going to be a 3 star recruiting school or another stepping stone....
Calm down

I have seen is brought up about Milton staring at the sidelines after making the play call..I think he is getting the line adjustments, blocking adjustments that Mays normally called out...Lane and Davis dont have the skill..so i think it relayed to Milton then he relays it to the OIne... possibly why we have blocking scheme issues

Because of many reasons, including Milton, the OL, the TE and the WR

The audible with :04 on the play clock and then getting a free play with too many men on the field and throwing a check down rather than a deep shot just tells me the game isn’t going to ever slow down for Milton.
I'm not sure which play you're talking about but as they were trying to come back he took a shot on 3rd down to the corner with a closely guarded WR. Should have been PI but wasn't. In the replay though, you could see a guy wide open in the middle for a 1st down. So I think the sketchy decisions are going both ways. Sometimes too cautious, sometimes too risky.

What are you talking about? There’s no excuse for the way we played against UVA and AP.
Agreed. QB, OL, TE and WR all need to play better.
I'm saying Milton is part of the problem. You seem to be saying he is the entire problem.

Our OL is terrible. QB won't change that.
