So what are everyone's thoughts? The rankings matter more now than ever as the Sugar Bowl is on the line! I am thinking we jump to 16 and Florida jumps right in front of us at 15.

Tonight at 7PM!

I am holding my breath till after the Vandy game. If we drop that one, then none of this matters...we will be going back to Nashville for the Music City Bowl or Belk Bowl (if we are lucky).

Vandy has a real chance to beat us. They have an NFL running back and we can't stop the run. Additionally they have a much better defense than Kentucky or Mizzou.

I think UF, UT, and A&M will all be within 5 spots of each other...

Yet, Mizzou beat Vandy 🤔

And we beat Mizzou, A&M beat us, Ole Miss beat A&M, and Vandy beat Ole Miss..... That means nothing.... Vandy will likely have the biggest home game in the Mason era this weekend vs us.... Given the run game issues with our defense, Dobbs and Co. have to continue to play lights out.... I think this game could be a 10 point game or a 28+ point win for us.... I hope for the latter.

Sorry folks, you'll never EVER hear me say (or read me post, lol), that Vandy has a real chance to beat us. This isn't Dooley's Vols. I say we roll into UT west and take care of business. We will be ready.

Valid point. I was at the game Saturday and I think Dobbs and Co. are playing nearly flawless since the departure of a certain someone. Vandys D is a step up, but I think the offense will handle business. Defense is a different story, obviously. Some of the players look like they're playing for the first time. They are rarely set for the play and half the time I don't think they know their assignment. Ridiculous for any SEC team.. Sunseri-esque.

Anyways, I think we have enough to beat Vandy.. definitely can't overlook them. If we are going to compete/win in a big bowl game, we need to have some sort of stability defensively.

Butch's Vols already lost a game to Vandy he shouldn't have.

You mean the Vandy defense UT scored 53 on last season? Going into that game we were told how good the Vandy defense was.

That's the spirit!

And I'm still hoping that Shoop can find the right pixie dust to stiffen the defense. Maybe some football version of Viagra.

Now that we're out of the SEC Championship, I don't think that the committee will find us very interesting. I think we'll sit right around the 18-22 area for the rest of the season until after the bowl game, when we will either get to top-15 or drop out completely.

The CFP rankings aren't like the AP, Coaches, or BCS rankings, where you continue to rise if you continue to win. The CFP "blows up" their rankings every week and restacks the top-25 based on quality wins, quality losses, division titles, conference titles, and so on. Missing out on the East and a shot at the SEC kind of anchored us to the 20 spot. That's why I think we'll be +2 or -2 of there.

This is true, I also wouldn't be surprised to see us drop.
