Regardless of the outcome Saturday, this is the right scheduling move. In the future, Danny White should make it a priority to schedule UGA in September, before they know who they are and get into a groove. It's when they are most vulnerable and typically we would be more healthy early than late in the season most years (though that was not the case this year). Volnation should riot if this is not done, lol.

Don't think DW has anything to do with it. He can lobby I guess, but the SEC sets the conference schedule.

A Dawgs fan I know was griping about playing us in mid-September because 1. Why make such a big change? and 2. He thought it hurt them because they were still trying to get the passing game in a groove and find the right combination up front.

Really I could see his point yet in this case it likely hurt us more with those defensive players injured. In theory we could have been healthier then though we’ll never know if say we got those guys back but maybe some guys on O got hurt. F the Pups, but just thought it was interesting they complained too.

UGA loses a lot to the NFL every year. They reload talent but it takes a few weeks for everything to come together. Worked to our advantage this season. They will get better as the season progresses.

Better to get them early. Next year is a L in Athens bc their QB will be back and we will be breaking in a new one.

Next realistic shot 2 years from now @ home.

I don’t see UGA as being one of the Vols permanent games. I bet that may be the last time we see them for a while. Unless it's in Atlanta..
There is no sane reason for anyone to consider Georgia as one of Tennessee’s permanent games. It has to be Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. That is true for Tennessee as well as for Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.

Agree. Also, under the new system, we will see Georgia every other year. So we will still see them often. In fact, we will see everyone every other year which is awesome.

Not sure how long that will last, however, as I think the SEC will end up expanding again.

Not really. We were down 2 stud corners. Sort of worked to their advantage in their passing game.

1) He has no control of that
2) we may not even play next year
3)You don’t want to go to Athens in September

I think it’s possible we’re going to see a lot of big SEC openers moving forward. It probably won’t be UGA next year, but this is a huge TV product and we have a big draw. Last year UF played LSU in November, this year 1ST SEC game as us w/ UGA. This year we get UF in November instead of October (last year) or September (most seasons).

I agree. i think within the next 5 years the SEC will expand to 20 teams and probaly 24 eventually to match the Big Ten.

Honestly, I’d rather play the toughest opponents up front. Even with a loss, it’s easier to climb back in the rankings from an early loss than a later loss. UT did pretty well through the 90’s losing to Florida the third game of the season and then winning the rest.

We used to moan and complain about playing Florida early in the year now we want to play uga early in the year. I never understood why it mattered. Just have your team ready to play everyone gets the sato amount of practice time
