Believe it or not I've never played online. I'm still playing with the PS2 so I'm not a 360er yet either..lol..How much does it cost and what all do you need to play online? I think it would be fun and something more challanging by far. Fill me in gang!

Do you have a PS2 with an ethernet port? That's all you need. They started building it in the system a couple years ago.

If so, just run an ethernet cable from your router or cable modem to the port and you're pretty much good to go. Select Online from the game menu. Follow instructions and join a game.

I got a new PS2 for CHRISTmas last year after my old one burnt out. I have a wireless router, so what do I need to do to play online? I am wanting to start playing online.

I have a slim PS2 that has a ethernet port, and I have a wireless router set-up for my laptop. What else do I need to start playing games online, and what steps do I need to follow to do so.

PS2 Network Adapter Review

The Playstation 2 Network Adapter came out in the fall of 2002, bringing the fun of PS2 play to the internet. It works through dialup and cable modem connections, unlike the XBox Live which only works through a high speed connection.

With the PS2 Network Adapter, you connect your PS2 to the world of games enabled for live play. Each game has its own sign in and tracking system. Each game can choose whether to charge or not charge for on line access to its area.

There are many games enabled for on line play, with more being added weekly. Some of the more popular games include Madden NFL and SOCOM. I enjoy playing one of the sleeper hits live - Frequency, where you play along with the music and try to outscore your opponents.

It's quick and easy to get connected. Most ISPs now have informational pages about how to hook up. We use a cable connection and were hooked up in minutes. The games themselves make it easy to go on line - just choose the menu option, create an account and you're in.

As with any on line game, your connection speed affects your gameplay. If you're on a slow, flaky dial up, expect to have problems controlling your character. In some games it may not matter at all, where your strategy and skill are being tested. But in more arcady games where it's about button mashing, you might be frustrated. It might be time to upgrade to cable or DSL!

Some of the best games out there - Vice City and Kingdom Hearts - aren't enabled for multiplay. But millions of players of the Final Fantasy series are eagerly awaiting the US release of Final Fantasy XI, which will be an on line only version of that series. I know I'll be getting my copy to play on line!
