Vols senior tight end Ethan Wolf didn’t seem to care about that, though.

Wolf said moments after the loss that he and his teammates want to play for Jones, and that they don’t plan on listening to anyone outside the program who claims otherwise

“I mean, half the people that talk about it don’t really … you know, they’ve never been in the situation that we’re in and don’t really know what to think about it,” said Wolf, who finished with 45 yards and one touchdown on three catches against Mizzou. “When you spend so much time with people, and they spend so much time investing in you, then you support them. Whether the public doesn’t [support them], it doesn’t matter. We’re all behind Coach Jones, and we’re gonna play for him.

“Nobody here wants to see him leave, if that’s what anybody out there thinks. We respect him as a coach, and we wish that we could do better for us and for him.”

The Vols now need to beat LSU and Vanderbilt at Neyland Stadium the next two weeks in order to guarantee bowl-eligibility.

Boo hoo. Too friggin bad they like Butch. Shoulda played better then...at least not show as one of the worst teams in UT history. Playing for "him and us"? Sure. To hell with the multi million dollar boosters or the 107,000 fans who pack Neyland or who the ones who travelled to Columbia for that clown show.

I'm sure Wolfe and at least "some" of the other players realize there's more at stake than just what they are comfortable with. Even though it's "just college" there is a lot of money involved...and a lot riding on...and dependent on the success of the football program. Something has gone horribly wrong with this program. The talent level coming in is better than 90 % of the teams they are losing to. Not only losing...but doing so in historically embarrassing and humiliating fashion.

This is the most untalented, slow, and softest UT team I've ever seen. So they can "wanna play for Butch" as hard as they can, they just suck. We are barely on par with Vandy and UK talent wise, if even.

All ya'll hoping for a new coach to come riding into town and get the Vols rolling in year 1 are delusional. This sh*t show Butch is leaving behind will take a while to rebuild.

We are exactly where Dooley left us after 5 years of this fraud of a coach.

I am shocked that when a college player who wants the ball/playing time, supports his coach when asked by a reporter who will print and play his response. I am also shocked because Wolf will be an NFL prospect and bad mouthing his coach would have helped his draft stock.

Let's say for a second they did want to play for him.
A. It doesn't matter and they have no say in it
B. This is all they know. Fulmer's biggest supporters on the team were all in on Kiffin in no time. They were seeing things they hadn't seen. It happens with every situation like this. Jacob Eason wanted to play for Richtand basically indicated that he wouldn't go to UGA w/ovRight but there he was on signing day......

And Kiffin came in the year after Dooley and had a decent season. What were you saying again???

Right now, talent wise, you may be right about UK and Vandy b/c injuries. On September 4th, this team was more talented than all but 3-4 teams in the SEC. It's easy to forget since half of them hardly got the ball or played their true position.

I think there are upperclassmen who know there are more physically talented underclassmen behind them and yet Butch continued to allow those upperclassmen to start. Of course those guys will support Butch because if an interim was named they would probably be on the bench the rest of the season. Not saying that is the case with Wolf or anyone else specifically but I do think it's the case with some. The locker room is probably divided as evidenced by fights and discipline issues.

Actions speak louder than words so therefore, no they do not want to play for Butch.

Evidently not, at least when we play Missouri.....

In its last 2 games against Tennessee, Missouri has run 193 plays for 1,399 yards. It has rushed for 853 yards in those 2 games.

If true, then they have embraced a champions of life, loser mentality.
If Butch could only brainwash his opponents and refs the way he does his players.
