Players Vs. Fans

Seems like a number of players (Stokes, Mcrae, Richardson) are sticking up for Cuonzo on this one and I can't say that I blame them. The way a majority of our fans have treated this coach and his family is pretty despicable. There is no doubt he was pushed out by these idiots.

This isn't the first time though fans have caused issues though for our sports teams. I remember well the Jonathan Crompton death threats while he was struggling.

We need to treat our coaches and players families with respect. It's alright to complain when things aren't going well but there is a line you just don't cross and this fanbase has done it on multiple occasions.

You lost me at saying a "majority of our fans." Man you are way off base. It was a "minority of the fans" that went off base. You are right that we should treat people with respect....and if the family was brought into it....that is just wrong. But you a very wrong to say it was a majority of our fans.

It's ok to be upset at the situation, but let's not throw the team under the bus. They did NOT underachieve, much less greatly so. Sweet 16 was quite good for the year. Thanks to the players; I'm sure it is no fun for those returning who are having to deal with a coaching change and the mixed emotions that go with that.

Unless the coach is named Dooley.

And when 30,000+ fans sign a petition to bring back Steve Spurrier, followed by a Muschamp SEC title run, then perhaps your little analogy might make some sense. :)

so getting lucky and backing your way into the tournament once in 3 years and getting the easiest draw in the the world is comparable to winning the SEC in football??

I'd be fine playing florida if I knew their coach struggled to get all sec and poy candidates the ball and would avg 49 pts against us. Please sign that coach to a lifetime contract.

True, it's not as though UF played defense worth a damn all year.

Every fan base has irrational people. The fact that peoples feelings (on either side) got hurt over a joke of a petition is humorous. Our society is full of thin skinned people and those that will ***** and moan at everything. This applies to our ex coach and some of our fans.

I don't recall our former coach ever saying anything about a petition. To call him thin-skinned is really ridiculous.

That said, let's go find a new one.

Gonzo was a joke and when Stokes decided to leave he knew his "coaching" would be exposed for the fraud it is, and he left. Glad he is gone.

Let me preface this with I never signed that petition...

Who cares about the petition?

If a grown man who is in one of the most scrutinized professions can't take 15 year olds signing fictitious names to a document, then I say adios.

I'm tired of hearing this victim/sob story.

I agree, except for the bolded.
I did not sign the petition, and I did nothing to harass Cuonzo, his family, or Crompton. I believe I represent a majority of our fan base in those regards.

If a grown man in the coaching profession got sand in his vag due to fans not being happy with an under performing team then he needs to grow a pair.

If the fans ran him off who cares. We as fans have every right to hold coaches accountable when they under perform as bad as Martin did. He has had a tournament team each year he has been here and only once did he make it and even then we were one of the last teams to get in. Then we were given a free pass to the sweet 16, in reality the guy should have been fired instead of letting him walk away. If the next coach doesn't like the way Martin was treated for under performing then don't suck with a good team and you will be loved by over 100K.

tn isn't a laughing stock where I am. People that have watched us fully understand. I could give a flip what somebody in Vermont or freaking Utah thinks. Nor Reggie Miller, or any other individual that sees 3-4 games and makes a 3 year assumption.
Nor do I understand why one would be concerned. Because it hurts your feelings? Then flee to Cali.

We just want to Win! Martin (coached) lost some ugly games in 3 years. CBP is hard to follow. Beating Florida and UK was fun! Let's do that again!!

Most people outside of Tennessee fans side with Martin on this one. They think Tennessee fans have absurdly unrealistic expectations.

I'm NOT OUTSIDE OF A TENNESSEE FAN I AM A TENNESSEE FAN

Can't relate :hi:

I don't think Martin had the support from the AD and boosters than he wanted. Fans will be fans. I think the main reason he wanted out was some kind of booster support problems.
I think the good news is it is looking like we don't lose any players except Okoroh who wasn't signed. If we do it want be to Martin he has a full roster out there already. Okoroh gives him an incoming class of six players.
