Love Hurd's confidence. When asked who the best RB in the SEC is, he said "We'll find out after this year." He truly believes he's the best, I think he'll show that he's right there with Fournette. I can't wait to see him play this year.

I bet it's hard not to get angry when he's constantly over looked due to the love affair the media has with Fournette and others.

I might understand it if he ran for anything other than a few grass clippings and a cup of Gatorade.

LSU will only go as far as they can ride Fournette

I'm not convinced that Hurd's top end speed is any lower than Kamara's. Kamara does seem to have an acceleration advantage, but at full speed Hurd may have the edge. The plays that he is "caught from behind" are usually the result of a defensive angle rather than overcoming him. This offense spreads the field and in doing so puts the defense in better position to defend the "home run". Athleticism and intelligence is a fun combination to watch.

Interesting to see that Kamara's fastest recorded 40 time is 4.45, and Hurd's fastest recorded is 4.47. Moving 240 lbs that fast is freaky. Something else that's interesting I just looked up too,: now that Kamara up to 215, he's exactly Marshawn Lynch's size and speed. While I'm on this rampage, Hurd is almost exactly Eddie George's size and speed as well. So we have Eddie George and Marshawn Lynch on our team. Clearly, afternoon boredom is really setting in.

EDIT: Jalen Hurd is 5 lbs heavier and 1 inch taller than EG.

Let's be real, Fournette is the best RB in the SEC hands down.

He was last year. This year.........we'll see. Apparently Mr. Hurd thinks he's got something to say about that. I'm sure there are a couple of other RB's that feel that way too.

The mainstream media constantly goes to extremes of imbalance for positive or negative. If I had a $.01 for every time ESPN spoke the name "Barry Bonds", then I would own the network.

That being said, anyone butthurt over the fact they are not getting the attention of LF, is just delusional. That guy is an absolute freak of nature with the ball in his hands. I'm not homerin' for LSU, but I doubt seriously Jalen thinks LF is overrated.

You are correct IMO. And, yes, I would love to see Hurd leapfrog LF. He should have an avg to above avg SEC unit to run behind or once in his career. Can't wait.

I'm guessing that's why he worked on that over the off season. Maybe you missed the 250+ lb one legged squats and the 23 mph inclined treadmill videos.

He knew where he needed to improve and went out and worked on it, We'll find out soon enough if it worked.

No I didn't miss those videos, they're pretty impressive

Should we start looking for another back?
I wouldn't trade him for any back in the country. Period. I don't think we have seen his top end speed anyway. I don't even care. It's not a one man offensive show and he doesn't have to the fastest player on the field. That being said, he might be the fastest 240+lb Running Back we've ever seen. Is that not good enough? I'm sure he would like to apologize for not working hard enough to meet the extreme expectations of all Tennessee fans.

Speaking of looking for things, I think you should start looking for some Xanax to chill out. The poster I replied to stated Hurd was up there with Fournette. I pointed out that in one regard, he's really not. I also noted a potential reason as to why, which may mean that he is or could be but the OL needs to improve. Finally, again I also noted that okay so he's not making breakaway 50-60 yd TD runs but he's still clearly getting into open space and making big runs. I'm a huge Hurd fan. Relax :)

I think young Hurd had what we used to say umpires in baseball had, "rabbit ears" about his being soft or not a tough guy from his high school days, that was supposedly the dig on him. You see over and over again where there were opportunities for Jalen to juke somebody and he instead was looking to make some contact. My mama nor cousins work at the Hendersonville DQ so know I have no special double secret probation connections to claim with the Hurd family, just my observation. Watching Jalen today during the presser I saw a young man comfortable and confident with himself and I could be mistaken but with the attitude he knows what's going on and has nothing to prove. THAT comes with maturity and I think we'll see a slightly different Hurd taking the field this year and we could very well see him break a few more long ones than looking to break a couple of noggins.

I hope we see big break away runs AND Hurd dump trucking LBs, CBs and safeties :) I love how he runs. He runs angry

I have compared Hurd to Eddie ever since he showed up here. It's a huge compliment to Hurd and isn't a stretch at all.

Overrated isn't what I meant at all.
Simply stating that he's constantly behind Fournette and Chubb. He's doing more with less imo. If we had lines like uga and LSU Hurd would have gotten the record or at the least tied it.

The dude is a stud and equally as valuable as the other two and that's not being a homer.
