player reaction if we hire Kiffin

A ton of good vibes for hiring back Lane right now. How do you think the players would react to hiring Lane? Would it be instant swag city? Would they dig his attitude? I think they would. Heck, most of them were about 10 years old when he bolted for his dream job, so they don't really have a frame of reference for disliking him. What do you all think?

The Players will love him!

3. Kiffin can recruit
4. Kiffin knows escorts
5. Kiffin can score good weed
6. Kiffin can win
7. Kiffin can win
8. I’m at UT
9. Kiffin can score really good weed
10. Kiffin can win

So yeah I’d be happy

I think, that you do not think much. How did the players like lame kitten at his "dream job"?

I will answer for you, they had a Dooley/bj revolt.

Lame Kitten has done nothing positive as a head coach and very little as a OC. A 10yr old could call plays at bama and be successful.

What makes you think this lol....one mediocre season at UT is the best thing in Kittens resume.

My business partner played for (and was flipped by) Kiffin. He loves him. Other players I have met love Kiffin. Hell, at Alabama game last year he, and a few other players, talked to Lane and he told them he was on the wrong sideline and that he really messed up by leavin UT.

Some of the fans my not love him but I've yet to meet a former player who has one bad thing to say about the man.

Go Bring LK back to the hill. #enoughsaid
Who hasn't made mistakes? We learn and grow and change. Kiffin would do well here and winning heals a lot of old wounds.

Mediocre? Our roster was terrible when he got here and he beat Ga and USCe and was a blocked field goal away from beating alabuba. He also turned Jonathan Crompton into an NFL draft pick. That doesn't seem mediocre to me.

Everyone saying Butch Jones is laughing now. Will this shut him up? Haslam already approved once before. That is the litmus test, isn't it?

Given the situation, and available options, I will allow. Let Kiffin bring some bling back to the program and get his second chance.

PS-does anyone else's phone autocorrect Kiffin with muffin every time? Hmmmm, muffins are good. It is a sign.

I think Kiffin will eventually help us win, but our qbs aren't pro style. We may see some backlash from them and that could spread. We'll see who he hires as DC. I'm hoping everyone is happy with who ever we hire so we can all be on the same page.

What style is our QB?

They definitely aren't dual threats, haven't you seen JG, QD, or WM try to run?

I'm not for the Kiff, but I think our QB's would be fine or better than fine. He can develop some QB's.

Kahlil McKenzie was joking around about it on Twitter yesterday. I think the players would love it.

And if they didn't, would it really be different than if we hire someone else? Wouldn't they be expected to get out if they didn't like it?

She gone.

Still. Bring back Lane.

Freak are you really for this scenario to play out this way? It is hard for me to ignore the past and his apparent still juvenile ways. But there is no question he can be a heck of a coach. I wouldn't rant and rave over his hire but am still hoping for something better.

I’m not sure if Currie has the ability to control Kiffin. May not be an issue if the school cans his sorry a$$ but if they don’t, Kiffin would own him.

I’d say the chances are slim to none.

Yep. Currie would have to have some huge stones to trot Kiffin out after the Schiano debacle. Even if he did, I doubt there's a lot of support on the hill to bringing him back despite the fact that he's likely the best coach among the candidates we are left to consider. One certainty though....whomever we hire knows we are over a barrel and desperate. Someone is going to be greatly overpaid. Too bad it's not a big name, proven coach. I'm amazed that UT would continue this search with Currie. I see no way he survives this. Same thought has to be going through the candidates minds as well. What coach would want to risk being hired by a guy who may not be here by spring practice? Such an incredible mess.
