I am asking a general question. Is this a team that is a coaching problem. The talent is there to win games or at least be competitive against teams like UGA and Alabama. The coaches aren’t coaching them up or putting the right plays in to win or make adjustments. They are strong recruiters who live for coaching but just lack intangibles???

Is it a player problem that they just don’t have the talent to play together, the coaches didn’t forget how to coach, that last year the defense made improvements every single week and the players don’t get along the defense is pissed at the offense for turning it over and not scoring and the offense doesn’t like5e defense? There is no senior leadership like Juan and Marquez

I don’t post on here very much and I am to 5e point were I don’t watch games anymore just have become apathetic. Everyone was saying Pruitt was the one and he changed the culture or Tennessee 5at after last year most people MOST people including me thought that we would be ok this year based on the amount of talent lost and next year we should be like 9-3 or better. So what changed. I know that the people that post on here are very passionate fans.

Please want to hear any and all options that is it a PLAYER problem or a COACH problem

I think it's a coaching problem. Pruitt has monkeyed with the staff so much and created so much turnover that there is no cohesion and teamwork. Pruitt is a great coach and an even better defensive coordinator. Having said that, he isn't a good head coach. It takes great leadership and team building to create a top notch coaching staff. That's the hallmark of a good head coach, and he doesnt have that ability. I think he Peter Principled out at defensive coordinator.

Coaching problem. Too many reasons to list but most definitely a coaching problem.

It’s a s*** show from the very top. No blame on the players. They are to be either coached up or encouraged towards an opportunity where there is lesser talent and more opportunity, ie; Brandon Kennedy.

Both. Coaches have to coach and players have to play. If either one doesn’t hold up their end, you get what we have now. A garbage football program.

Trask has thrown for 6 TD in the first friggin half against Arkansas and JG has thrown for 6 all year!!! Man oh man we suck so bad compared to Florida. Dan Mullen knows how to put points on the board, Pruitt is a defensive coordinator playing head coach.
And Tennessee never even called Mullen for an interview.

We got what we paid for, a $3.6m for a on the job trained coach with No Head Coaching Experience, None. Florida got Mullen and experienced Head Coach with a track record and paid $6 million and he is worth every penny.

We wasted our money cheaping out on Pruitt and paying out Butch's contract.

It’s always said that you know what you gave in year three. I think we have a coordinator as a HC and the guy has zero ability to manage other managers. I think we should demote him and bring a real HC in, if the guy wants to get his money he’ll stick around if not he’ll quit.

Ok just a Question...what was the difference between last year when we were 1-4 and then played worlds better after the off week and played well against everyone including Bama.

There are no play makers on either side of the ball and there aren't 2 or 3 players on the roster who would even be in the two deep on any of the top 5 or 6 SEC teams. But, the player development and coaching has been really bad this year. All of the problems begin with terrible QB play but as a few others have pointed out, this team has the propensity to quit at the first sign of adversity.

It's just a bad football program.

That reminds me of Dooley at press conference after we lost another game, "fella's we just aren't very good"

Its a coaching problem in that we are in the worst spot you could possibly imagine at the QB position.

Unacceptable that we are in this situation. Should have found a way to have somebody ready and able.

However, I can see some light at the end of the tunnel if one of these young guys gets in the game and starts playing well by the end of the year.

Players have quit playing over the past 13 years. Don't want to play for Dooley. Don't want to play for Butch. Don't want to play for Pruitt. They don't care when Al Wilson comes and pours his heart out before the team. They are a bunch of knuckleheads who are not worthy to wear the orange and white, recite the Maxims, and slap the " I will give my all for Tennessee sign". They are frauds. Burn it down. Burn it all down and find some guys who will bleed orange and white.

It’s both but more on coaches...however this team lacks a true leader. I see no fire...not much communication. I don’t expect every team to have a Peyton/al Wilson/Juan Jennings type of accountability but the lack of a true alpha is concerning

It was my understanding that we did contact Mullen and that he waited on and took the Florida job.
