Played the starters too much

I agree with golfballs. We shot WAY too many 3’s today. Especially Bone & Turner. They made some uncharacteristic bad decisions as far as shot selection goes.
Finally, I cant fathom how our team (who plays inside out consistently) shoots fewer FTs than our opponents EVERY #¡%£¥! game!! Even a team that shot 35 threes and gets outrebounded by 12! Makes no since to me.

Mark Pancratz has been in Pearls corner for years. He takes full advantage of every opportunity he gets to badmouth Barnes in a mild way because he's jealous for Pearl and the much greater success Barnes' teams have had recently compared to any of Bruce's teams that he was a part of.
I totally disagree with that opinion.

Change “starters” to “Lamonte” and you hit nail on the head.

We're both entitled to our opinions, no problem. I've listened to him all season on the Sunday morning Sports Source program, for what that's worth. He's very subtle about his admiration of Pearl.

Edit: You can't blame him since Pearl gave him his first coaching gig.

I don’t understand how he went from starting to not playing. He’s the best pure athlete we have.. Idk man
Nobody respects him on offense. Every team keeps the man who is supposed to be guarding Pons in the lane. The clogged lane makes it harder for Grant, Kyle, Admiral, or Fulk (he needs all the help he can get) to score.

Id take Pons over Tae every day.. the offense looks bad when bone is off the court.. Pons can at least play defense

I don't know about the first part, but the last part is definitely not true and I'm not even a Pearl fan.

Our defense has regressed so much from last season and I don't know why.
It actually hasn’t. Last year we gave up 65.7 ppg. This year is 67.1. Last year our opponents shot 40.9% and this year they shoot 39.0%. Defensive efficiency last year was .949 and this year is .951. Our D is almost exactly the same as last year. Our expectations are much higher though because of our success so it seems like we aren’t as good. Basically D is the same and O is better which is why we’ve had a better year.

I don't understand why we didn't play zone more. Isn't a zone defense supposed to help defend against outside shooting as well as giving the players a bit of a breather?

It really depends on the type of zone, but assuming you mean a standard 2-3 zone, then no, it isn’t designed to help defend the perimeter. Quite the opposite really. Good shooters are known as zone busters for a reason. Auburn is a team that would carve up a zone defense.

Yep, I was a short guard who liked shooting from the outside. I couldn’t really get my own shot, and I loved playing against a zone. Just keep moving finding the soft spot.

Pons is hands down worth more on the court than lamonte. That’s without question to be completely honest

No he isn't. We have 4 offensive players on the court with Pons in. His offensive skills are literally high schoolish. That automatically gives the other team an extra defender down low.

Hes way better defensively at contesting shots and lamonte as a trash shooter.. turner has trouble even running the offense which is why bone gets rushed back in so often.. you can see it

I like Pons but thats the alcohol talking

Lamonte is good for 1 steal a game.. and three airballs lol Pons>lamonte

But in all seriousness Pons hasn’t played legit minutes since he broke his face. We worked better when the starting 5 was Bone, AD, Pons, Grant, and Kyle with lamonte and Bowden coming off the bench

When Williams or Bone go out of the game we are pretty much Arkansas! JMO

Also, when we miss a 3 it is basically a turnover! Way to many 3 point turnovers!
