play calling is bad...Simms is worse

Simms can't keep staring down receivers. He looks like crompton did 2 years ago. Stop the madness

Dooley stopped short of saying "My QB stinks and that's our problem right now on offense" at the half. Simms is going to have to prove he can do get us into the end-zone periodically or we're sunk.

Possibly. But its not like they had a chance to score if we messed up. It was a situation that seems ot me to be all in our favor when they punt. There was, what? 8 seconds left?

And what happens if we muff the punt, they pick it up, and run it back?

Risk/reward not worth it. Especially when you have a QB that can't throw a fade route when we intentionally bring in a 6'5" receiver and have him in single coverage on the left side of the formation. No, instead that QB throws it into traffic in the middle of the end zone. You can't go down 14-3, would be back breaking going into half.

a muffed punt cannot be advanced.

but i guess there is achance there would be a seconfd or two on the clock and the Gators could kick a FG.

I do understand the likelihood of us doing anything is small - but in a game like this i sort of question not making them punt it.

I sure wish Lane Kiffin was calling the plays right now. He did wonders with Jonathon Crompton last year.

First play of the game Simms over throws a WR that might have led to a touchdown. Just now he threw another bad pass that the Announcer even said should have been a first down throw. Don't care what anybody says, if he doesn't get better, he needs to sit down after this game and Bray needs to take it from here.

I don't think the playing is bad, its simms holding onto the ball to dang long...

Simms is awful. I've been saying this since January. Why are people just realizing this?

Strong but horribly inaccurate arm and terrible decisions.

19 of 30 270 yards. 2 td 2 int.
not bad, but we are treating this kid just like Casey Clausen.

Unless Bray just suddenly "gets it" in practice, there is no way he should see the field before mop up.

Simms got better during the game. This whole team improved this week! This team might end the year at 7 - 5!!! They've got to continue improving, and they've got to go from "compete" to "learn how to win." That will be their November test.

However, I think experimenting with the team right now is the WRONG thing to do. Simms has earned the job. He's not his dad, but he can get this team to a bowl invitation.

AND WE NEED THAT PRACTICE!

Seriously! That would be a monumental failure to do that to the kid. No decent coach would do that.

Exactly. Bray is our only hope for next seaon, and he probably isn't good enough at this point to make a difference right now. So, why in the world would you risk destroying the kid's confidence by playing him in these situations? I don't like to lose, either, but the coaching staff is playing this very smart IMO.

No way...Clawson wasn't even able to call his own game. Fulmer overruled him constantly.

Anyone watch any of his games at Bowling Green? Amazing offensive games...Fulmer killed everything he wanted to do.

cmon you know you cant tell people the truth here! they all want something to blame other thatn whats really at fault

and no way fulmer was going to let the guy do what he does. that would mean having someone who got more of the spotlight than him/
now that im finished with that rant.......

simms really isnt getting it done.

i dont know about you all but im sick of our qbs being so bad that we have to shorten the game and hope its close to win.

All I know is if I hear another UT QB talking about confidence before they've backed it up Im gonna puke. This kid makes me wish we had Vandy's .

Interesting choice of favorite teams, especially considering how you went off in a thread before the Oregon game calling all Tennesseans something along the lines of "backwoods hicks"

Simms looked like he was having a staring contest with the receivers. And he had a serious case of happy feet in the pocket.

I agree with the first part. As for the second part, the scary thing is that Simms is as bad as Simms looks, he's light years better than Crompton was in 2008.

This.

Have people forgotten Crompton 1.0 lost his job to Nick Stephens? Crompton 2.0 started vs UCLA 2009...

Simms is not only better than Crompton, he got better after making the mistakes in this game. Crompton wouldn't have hit either Moore or Hunter on the TDs under pressure; he would have hit the cheerleaders.

We improved. Simms improved a lot. If we work hard, improve each week, and compete every game, we will go bowling, and this team will be on an upward trajectory.

Right UCLA was probably the worst called game I've ever seen, right out of the gate to start the season

No way Fulmer was overiding him that early in the season

I liked his pocket awareness as the game went on, not at first. I think he does have a strong arm and I think the timing will come. The only thing I am looking it though is his JUCO numbers. I think, I'm not for sure, but I think he had something like 20 touchdowns and 20 int's last year, in JUCO. To me that should have been a concern when scouting the kid. In my opinion.
