Play calling against BG

A couple of guys (players) are in one of my T-TH classes and told me we will see some trick plays. Said there will be tales to watch for without them saying what they are. Also said it's more for OK to have to prepare for. One is on the defense side and said they are going into a package that has never been used in college football. Saturday may be an entertaining game to watch!

I hope they're wrong. Trick plays are the dumbest things in football. When you have the advantage, just kick ass. Don't screw around. Butch, bless his heart, has a tendency to call stupid ass **** from time to time.

They are either going to run the "traditional" triple-option in this game as a smokescreen to go with the practice vids. Or, they are not going to run it at all, then run it against OU fo'real.

Too much tape from practice on it, not to appear for one reason or the other. Can't see anything new / different coming in the BG game unless it's to force preparation.

Sounds like our O should pound BGSU's D pretty soundly regardless.

Also keep hearing about the "4 DE" defensive line in obvious passing situations, ala NE Patriots. We've certainly got the horses for that. But, can't imagine that being unique in the college ranks.

Maybe 11 freshmen at one time? Surely that's been done too. At least at the advent of CFB in the 19th century.

Who knows, maybe Khalil will be used as a 1 man OL, then we double team bracket cover every other skill player. :p

Isn't football all about outwitting and outplaying your opponent? What you may call a "trick play", some of us prefer to call "the game winning play". The last I checked, it's about who wins the game.

I wouldn't mind a trick play or two. Wouldn't mind seeing us run the ball on almost everyplay either. Reduce a few of the bubble screens also. Way too many of them last year.

A lot of our running plays are designed with bubble screen options, depending on what the QB reads from the D in-play. They did not call all those bubble screens, many of them were byproducts of what the Ds did.


Plus, our running game blew and screens are basically a part of the running game.

They need to save the trick plays for the big boys.

I'd expect this game to be played fairly close to the vest.

I doubt players are talking about the game plan to students. I expect nothing fancy, no need to pull out the tricks the first game. Dominate the first half, let the backups get some game experience, and get ready for Oklahoma.
