It seems reasonable to think so. Vol fans protesting and complaining has led directly to coaches not wanting to take the job. Every time a coach turns down the huge money to stay at lesser gigs it becomes more obvious. How Vol fans continue to blame the AD, boosters, and admin, when they had actually hired a coach, is beyond me. It's time that these fans take a long look in the mirror and accept their role in this nonsense. At this point the fans really need to just shut up and let these guys hire whomever is willing to take this job. At least seven coaches have now very publicly turned down a job paying insane money, and Vol fans need to ask themselves why.

Or you could spin it this way: attract a coach that wants to be a part of a passionate fan base. Coaches know whether they have what it takes to be in Knoxville, we just haven't contacted them yet.

they are doing it simply to get a pay raise.
Its a common agent move and right now we are the perfect means to that end.
Hell I would do the same thing. Flirt, draw an offer, wait for a raise, and then say no to UT.
Wouldn't even have to leave my armchair to get a fat bonus

we had nothing to do with Brohm not getting the job. or Gundy. most were behind those two.

it's a lazy narrative to push this on the fans. the fans have finally just reached their tipping point. the leadership on the hill has been abysmal for over a decade. and the money behind those folks has been even worse.

yet year after year, 100,000 people fill that stadium every week. people donate, they buy tickets, they buy merchandise. they schedule their lives around football saturdays.

no, this is not the fans fault. it's just easy to say so. anyone that's been paying attention to this, should know by now the who's, why's and how's behind this debacle.

Schiano - fans and especially boosters didn't want him

Frost - Clearly doesn't want to leave for anyone but Nebraska

Gundy - At his alma mater and has been coach for 13 years

Cutcliffe - Getting old and doesn't want to start fresh when he's close to retirement and in poor health

Brohm - Original agreement changed by the incompetent UT AD

Doeren - Fans didn't want him, he would rather stay where he's wanted and accept a raise

Chad morris - doesn't want to rebuild us and likely sensed that fans didn't want him. (this is one I'm not fully confident on why.

Who did I miss?

Edit: Chip Kelly - Wanted UCLA only

If there was no protest no other coach would go for us because Schiano would be our coach.

The sharks smell blood. A school that is desperate and loaded is talking to anyone with a pulse. Every agent in the country in making overtures if their man needs leverage for a raise. We are just a big feeding trough at the moment.

Mullen: Wasn't offered and mentioned "Champions of Life" in his presser. clearly bitter after being snubbed.

Oh look, it's the guy that was cussing us the other day and sounds like your part of the AD.

Has it ever occurred to you that no coach wants to come here with Haslams nose in the coaches FB program. Theres a big problem up there and it damn sure doesn't have anything to do with the fans.

Don't flatter yourself. Currie wasn't looking at the internet on his flight to Columbus. He was babysitting crybaby boosters on the phone. The powers that be don't give a crap what appears on message boards.

I don't see this to be the case at all. Currie only targeted Schiano and had no backup plan. Not to mention being tone-deaf to anything VFL. If anything, he's not playing but one card at a time. This is ALL on Currie.

Name a coach that we actually wanted who turned us down over the fan base...

Gundy: Nope - OSU is his dream job. He wasn't leaving for any amount of money. He wouldn't even take a call from Florida but actually agreed to an interview with us

Brohm: Nope - He accepted the first offer but Bev didn't like it. We came back with a lower offer and he declined. It was over money. Brohm is still on the table if we honor the first offer.

Cutcliffe: Nope - He is happy at Duke and nearing retirement. Too old for a major job change. He knew the fans would be happy with him if he took the job.

Kelly: Never offered

Mullen: Never offered

Frost: Never offered

Schiano: Didn't want

Doeren: Didn't want

the only coaches that wont come are either not even remotely interested in a change anyhow or they are the ones no one wants here.

Well, we had one of those in the basketball program with Cuonzo Martin.

And then a bunch of idiots ran him off.

These responses are already proving my point to be true. Plausible Deniability at its finest.:eek:k:

Just that fast i have seen:
Blaming the AD.
Blaming the boosters.
Making excuses for the rejections.
Me secretly supporting Schiano hire.

Come on guys, just get real. When we are seeing guys from schools lie Purdue, Duke, and NC State saying no, we need to look in the mirror and stop making excuses. Those jobs are dog $!#@ compared to UT and everyone here knows it.

I understand that everyone hates the rest of the nation BUT...
There just may be some merit to the overwhelming % of media putting this on the fan base. There just may be some merit in other fan bases making sure that they do not replicate what UT fans did.

This thread isn't for angry rhetoric, it's for rational thought.:peace2::peace2::peace2::peace2::salute:

Yes and No. The AD had money and time to go make a great hire, they settled on Schiano.. people refused another terrible hire. If the AD would have made a good hire from the beginning this never would have happene. The fans are publicly telling coaches not to come but these are victories, not failures. This is a battle against the TN AD and Haslam.

It really pisses me off to see people blame the fanbase so I will light this thread on fire if everyone is blaming the fans. For 10yrs the AD has shown nothing but incompetence in every decision and move that is made. It is obvious, or should be, to everyone the Haslam influence is not good for the university. It is obvious, or should be, that the AD does not care about what the fanbase wants. They continue to target coaches that even the national media question while the fanbase has made it clear, and the local and national media agrees, who it wants.

By this point, if you still support the TN AD and think that they are making good decisions with the intent to improve the program and win then I feel sorry for you. I feel sorry for how naive you are while walking through life. The word is corrupt, TN is corrupt.

I think whats missing here, is that the coaches that UT fans want are not remotely interested. Thus the reason we seem to be talking to D league candidates.
