Planet Fitness

Ignorant comparison.

Could you elaborate on this? It appears to be an "apples to apples" comparison to me.

I think something that is getting lost in this is that the woman didn't just complain, she showed up every day afterward making a scene about it.

Not really.

Planet Fitness just decided to back a group you individually don't support so therefore they're in the wrong.

They're a private enterprise. I support both companies that Deputy Fife mentioned because I support a private company's right to sell to who they want.

They could kill their business model in the process, but so be it.

I actually don't have a problem with them backing the transgender community. I just wonder why this guy's right to be who he wants to be is more important then the female patrons of that planet fitness's privacy. Where do we draw the line?

Ignorant comparison.

She wasn't booted after complaining once to the staff:

Unsatisfied with this reply, Cournier took it upon herself to return to the gym the next week and for three days in a row go up to as many women gym members as she could find and said, “[J]ust so you know, there’s a man they allow in this locker room and they don’t tell you that when you sign up.” It was for this behavior, and not her original complaint, that Cournier’s membership was revoked.

Nothing more than emotion has informed your position.

And I agree that they are a private business and should be allowed to run it how they choose. There should be zero legal recourse for this incident. I'm just merely expressing my opinion on the matter.

So when I ask where we should draw the line, I'm basically speaking as a society concerning this issue.

U said "most"...... All it takes is one bad seed......rapists are Cub Scout leaders, sports team coaches, priests, leaders of the community....some pedophiles get jobs around kids just so they can be around the ones they lust after.... I don't think it's that big of a stretch for one to put a dress on to get what they want.....I work with gay people and have no issues with their choice but unlike Yorkvol tries to make it sound being gay or confused doesn't automatically make u a good person.....I don't want the women of my family sharing a locker room with a man. Chances are that it would be fine but all it takes is that one bad person.

Don't live your life in fear, man. Just like someone's sexual orientation or gender identification doesn't automatically make them a good person, it also doesn't automatically make them a pervert.

I'm actually not at all and advocate of creating separate bathrooms. People should use the bathroom that correlates with their sex, meaning biological males use the men's room and biological females use the women's room. Anybody who is not okay with this arrangement, which absolutely includes non-transgendered people who don't want to share a bathroom with transgendered people, are 100% free to just avoid the locker room area.

With that said… We both know that equating people who think we should build transgendered bathrooms to racists from the 60s is incredibly shortsighted and intellectually shallow.

One is a form of discrimination and the other is a form of accommodation. If you can't see how drastically different the two are, then you're just being incredibly dense.

My guess is you did know but there's no way you were going to pass up an opportunity to equate us all to racists. Or… Maybe you are just ignorant enough to think that's a legitimate comparison. I don't know...

Call me dense then, because the word "accommodation" was used a lot to justify discrimination in the past.

And, I didn't call anyone racists, merely pointed out a historical fact the last time there was separation without any good reason.

Pretty sure I can prove vollygirl is a woman. Good luck proving that freak is one.

You're so right… Piss on the dozens of women who feel uncomfortable sharing the locker room with him. If they don't like it they're just bigots and can go work out somewhere else, right?

There were dozens? I thought it was just one woman.

And yes, the business should have the right to do business with whomever or whatever they choose, including but not limited to not serving them icky gay folk cakes for their glitter-fabulous weddings.

Let the people vote with their wallets...

Let's talk historical facts then…

Fact: The overwhelming majority of sexual predators have been male.

Fact: The overwhelming majority of their prey have been female.

Based on the above, the overwhelming majority of women are going to feel varying degrees of discomfort and intimidation when sharing a locker room with a man (regardless of what gender he identifies himself as). These feelings aren't rooted in bigotry or hatred, rather are really more of a survival instinct then anything.

You're basically asking the zebra to share a waterhole with the lion. Only this lion is a zebra too, he was just misfortunate and born in a lion's body. Even though the lion-zebra is telling the truth, can you really blame the zebras for feeling a little uneasy when he comes around?

Honest question…

Do you really think she's the only one feels uncomfortable sharing a locker room with him?

Straw man slippery slope Ad hominems.

When he first posted this, I assumed he was trying to point out fallacies of others. Now I see that it was just a declaration of all the ones that he was going to use in order to make a complete fool of himself.

My morality is superior because I value actual human beings above supernatural nonentities.

You missed the religion thread. It's down the page a tad.

So can you please leave your douche comments about religion out of a subject that has nothing to do with religion?

Thanks.

Maybe, maybe not - that is irrelevant. Misrepresenting the facts of the argument to bolster a position is low rent.

Perhaps, but it is central to the argument at hand.

The facts aren't misrepresented as you claim. It's a worthy tangent of discussion.

It's not central to the argument at hand, at all.

"Dozen's" of women weren't "pissed all over" because they were uncomfortable. It was a woman.

So yeah, he originally asserted a fact that wasn't.... a fact.

He didn't ask the question hypothetically.

Those are some of the fallacies used by Christians to discriminate against LGBT people. For example, intimating that homosexuality is on par with bestiality and that interspecies marriage is the obvious next step after gay marriage, that your rights are somehow violated by it, etc.

Your analogy is equally foreign to reality and rooted in ignorance and paranoia.

Ignore button's right there if you can't handle a different opinion.

The same process works for you as well sparky.

You want to be a douche about religion, take it to the other thread. Let's try to keep this one on track shall we?

Thanks and have a blessed day.
