PJ Fleck for OC

Oh I'm sure he can, but for LSU and Texas it'll be Herman or bust. I am curious to see who Oregon goes after, Kiffin maybe?

LSU keeps playing like they did last night, they will keep Orgeron.

I may be alone in this, but unless an AD is on the hot seat, I don't see Kiffin getting hired. Forget his offensive play calling, look at his HC resume at Oakland, Tennessee, and Southern Cal. I don't see any glowing testimonials.

If they do hire him, they best bring in a tireless director for football who knows compliance. Saban's hair loss is getting worse, and I think I know why.

If Debord is let go, I would love for us to give Fleck a look. He makes 800k as a HC, but Dan Enos left his head coach gig to come to Arkansas so I'm sure we could convince Fleck. Fleck is a hell of a recruiter, kids love him. He's pulled Western Michigan from the gutter. He's one of only a handful of CFB head coaches with NFL playing experience, and bonus: his specialty is Wide Receivers. He's young and upcoming... We need a guy like him over Grandpa Debord.

Jones is not remotely comtemplating letting DeBord go.

I think Kiffin ends up at Houston after Herman leaves. That is the type of program he will have to do well at before a big time program will hire him as HC. IMO

But their coach isn't. The fact that their talent has been exposed only shows how much he coached them up.

Herman will still be gone. Greg Ward Jr. is gone after this year. He will make his jump after this year.

They still shouldn't be getting hammered by SMU. But, I wonder if all of the chatter about their coach has hurt their team.

Would make more than enough sense. Probably hearing more than we have access to. Every time a phone call comes in they're wondering who's trying to talk to their coach. I still say that the squad he took over was an average team albeit one that went to a lower level bowl. His one full season recruiting class wasn't nearly enough to stock an upper level program. He's coached them up and is now being judged on that standard. Selfishly hope SEC teams pass on him...he's Urban Meyer level with better X's and O's.

Funny thing about Fleck, if people around here get tired of coach speak and clichés from Jones, they would be lighting themselves on fire after a season or two with Fleck. The guy is Jones x50.

The guy literally had his catchphrase incorporated into the uniform.

That's why they call it "coach speak". Coaches speak like that. Most fanbases could give a crap...ours obsess over it. :)

I agree that he looks like a future star. He would look best in Burnt Orange.... Yes, I agree, out of the SEC.

Surely Tennessee can do better than bringing in a rising HC as OC, right?

If that's the case I can only assume that Belichick and Gruden have said no.

Which could end up costing him his career here. I was stunned when he actually had the nads to fire Jancek and go out and grab Shoop. I know offense is his background, but he needs to bring someone in here that has the ability to out scheme opposing DC's. Under-developed talent on the offensive side of the ball has been pretty clear at this point. I think Butch would make an excellent overall "manager." He just needs to hire an elite OC and let him have the reins. This is all just my opinion of course, but the inconsistency from the offensive side of the ball is astonishing.

Stop being such a pompous a$$. He won't get a better HC offer than being on an SEC staff.I doubt he is offered LSU and no one in their right kind would want control over the dumpster fire in Lexington.

He will be in play at Fresno State, Purdue, Boston College, Pitt if Narduzzi gets a promotion, Kentucky if Stoops is gone, Vanderbilt if Mason is gone, Baylor, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Houston, and any other mid level head coaching stop.

Did you know in our first 3 SEC games we set a school record for yards? We weren't playing Vandy, UK, and SCAR.

Not saying there hasn't been good games, just that the inconsistency has cost us or almost. I.e. Appalachian state. Florida and Alabama both have legit defenses. Georgia and A&M are not that great. We are ranked 80th in total yards with one of the best running back duos in the NCAA. Our line has regressed. Never utilize one of the best tight ends in the SEC. Just frustrating.

PJ Fleck is a younger Butch Jones. Fleck has never called plays. He is a great recruiter just like Jones. Kids like him for his energy, but as far as X's and O's he's on par with Jones. Would be a terrible choice for OC if Debord is gone after the season.

If Texas comes after McIlwain, I hope the Gators get Fleck. Wow! Most dynamic personality since Bill Battle. Oh, wait.....

If we were ever in a position to have to hire a head football coach PJ Fleck would be at the top of my list. That was an outstanding interview on Finebaum. He's going to be a great head coach at a Major football program.
