Pitt Starting QB

Well we knew that was inevitable.

Fun facts:

He's not as good as Kenny Pickett.
Does not have near as good of weapons as Pickett had.
Their new OC from Boston College likes to run the ball more.
Pitt was 77th in rush yards per game. But only 3.98 yards per carry
Boston College ranked 103rd in total offense last year....

We have some advantages folks.

I will not be surprised to see Patti as the starter at some point. Slovis struggled surrounded by skill players who were better athletes than almost anyone they faced. Pitt has very serious question marks at WR this year. They had one exception to the rule last year but typically their WR's are pretty much on par athletically with the rest of the ACC.

I feel like this is a game UT should win by 10 even on the road. Odds are Slovis is no where near as good as Pickett while Hendon should improve on a great 2021 campaign. I know we lost last season, but it was mainly due to squandered opportunities by Milton in the first quarter and once PITT settled in our window to put the game away was closed. PITT was a good team last year however I just don't see how they can replicate the same type of success this season or come close to a top 15 finish. Also, Narduzzi's teams are typically mediocre. Last year was the outlier. GBO!

An advantage may be UT's ability to slow Pitt's run game down but as I watched Slovis play a few games last year he was really getting better passing. Then I watched UT's defensive secondary get shredded by Purdue for over 500 yards passing. UT seemed to do well when they applied pressure to the QB so, imo, UT needs to get to Pitt's QB.

Opposite that, UT's offense could have a field day against Pitts D. That would be a much needed confidence booster and give UT some momentum heading into conference play.........GO BIG ORANGE !!!

I don't know if Slovis' bad years last year was him or just part of the chaos that USC went thru. Kid had a hell of a freshman year. "Slovis finished the 2019 season with a freshman record 3,502 yards, 30 touchdowns to only 9 interceptions and an NCAA Freshman record 71.8 completion percentage, while leading USC to an 8–4 regular season record and a Holiday Bowl berth en route to being named the PAC-12 Freshman of the Year."

He'll be behind a veteran line and has 3 returning RBs. I hope our D can force him to have to beat us. because he doesn't have a group of proven receivers. The battle along the LOS will be huge. If we shut down their run like we did last year we should be in good shape - but this game will be a good early test for us.

Our secondary will be much improved this year

Did Slovis transfer to two different teams before coming to Pitt?
Makes absolutely no difference, troll. In each case USC simply has to sign a form. Like they said they would do months ago. You are deliberately trying to irritate fans and spread false anti-UT misinformation.

You are deliberately trying to irritate fans and spread false anti-UT misinformation. It's a pattern. You must be stupid or vicious to think that is clever. Don't bother claiming you were joking. Everyone except you sees through you.
I’m not joking. It’s comparing apples and oranges. I want Bru to play, but these are two different situations. We had zero issues getting Velus Jones to play and he came from USC.

One time transfer rule is how he became immediately eligible. Bru has transferred 3 times total.
Our fans are having trouble with this logic. People are comparing 1 transfer to 3 transfers. Trying to bully another school into opening a can of worms. Do we want people transferring nonstop?

Yeah, that means USC would have had to sign the form they said they would sign months ago. More like endorsing a check than direct deposit, I grant you that. Doesn't explain why they won't free Bru. It's just a technicality, it's not a motive. It doesn't explain why they have stalled and hindered and publicly misrepresented their deeds in last minute press releases. The technicality just gave them a way to stall and hinder -- if wanted to. It didn't force them to stall and hinder. They could do what they wanted all summer.

Pitt has 5 seniors starting on their offensive line. They will try to run the ball down our throats.

Good. I would much rather teams attempt to run at the strength of our defense. We should stop the run cold.

Secondary play is average for us at best. Hopefully by the time teams start their passing game on us, we will be far enough ahead to withstand their passing game.
