It's not so much effort as it is them being completely out of position! Either extremely bad defensive play calling or the players not understanding where they should be. Either way it's bad coaching.

You've got two 5 stars rotating in at tackle who are better pass rushers, and two incredible ends (one a top 5 NFL pick) applying pressure. Shurmur has been pressured but gotten ball out quick. The issue has been with deep coverage. Sorry, your excuse doesn't jive.

Spare me. UT has immensely more talent.

I don't for the life of me understand how our DB'a are so out of position almost every play. They never look for the ball and are getting beat by average receivers.

I've only been on VN sparingly recently since it has been so negative and i'm generally happy with my life but I love the fact that the OP said we can't use any excuses like youth and injuries to explain why it is so bad. Reading through this, apparently coaching is out as well. Really hard to figure out what the problem is supposed to be if it isn't the players or the coaches. At least we get to see a lot of points from out offense (which i'm assuming has the same logic applied to it where it can't be because of good coaching or good players).

Oddly enough, I feel like a weirdo here since all the negavols would think I'm a sunshine pumper and all the sunshine pumpers would think I'm a negavol. Exactly why I voted third party...You're all cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Vandys QB has passed for more yards in this first half than he has in any complete game this year. Mind boggling at how many ways we can be bad on defense!

Our secondary plays terrible technique and lets their guys get behind them too easy. Then to make matters worse, they NEVER play the ball until after its caught.

Oh, it's just injuries. Nothing to see here. Nevermind that a Vandy QB is on pace to throw for 500/friggin yards. It's injuries.

The defense has been terrible like usual but it seems like on a couple of plays where they will finally get to the QB he throws some incredibly crazy pass for a gain of 20 and we have good coverage. The miss tackles and lack of speed to the edge also sucks.
