With this staff, I honestly believe that Pipe Dreams are a thing of the past.

The only thing that could keep some people from coming to UT is the fact that we have not had a winning season in a few years.

But if Butch can do something about it this year, we are going to see even more incredible results.

This class is already incredible, and will become even more:

1. Victor Wharton - 4*
2. Todd Kelly Jr. - 4* (Likely a 5* when it's all said and done.)
3. Jalen Hurd - 4* Likely a 5* when it's all said and done.
4. Neiko Creamer - 3 or 4*
5. Coleman Thomas - 3 or 4*
6. Raashan Gaulden - likely 4*
7. Dominique Booth - 4*
8. Petera Wilson - 4*
9. Josh Malone - 4*
10. Jalen Tabor - 4*
11. Alex Bars - 4*
12. Treyvon Paulk - Likely 3* or 4*
13. Elliott Berry - Likely 3* or 4*
14. Evan Berry - Likely 3* or 4*
15. Dillon Bates - 4*
16. Drew Barker - 4*
17. Nick Chubb - 4*
18. Shaun Hamilton - 4*
19. Bryson Allen-Williams - 4*
20. D.J. Smith - 4*
21. Lorenzo Carter - 5*
22. Myles Autry - 4*
23. Kevin Mouhon - 4*
24. Demarre Kitt - 4*

I could continue going on, but you see what I'm saying. This is MARCH. And already most of these guys have been on campus, some more than once, and have had positive things to say. Obviously, there are more than this as well. But we are off to a nice start with some VERY talented players, and it's only going to get better from here.

This is the beginning.

And Pipe Dreams No Longer Exist. Get em' Butch!

Scotty, you need about four eyes or five for you to be seeing the number of stars we're seeing!

I like how even our 3 stars are 4 stars on your list.

I went by Rivals. Technically Thomas and Creamer are unranked. So I said most likely they're 3 or 4*'s.

Everyone I listed was their Rivals ranking. Scout or 247 may have them as something else.

CBJ said if we get a kid on campus, he thinks we can land them. He closed out last years class strong with very little time. The start of this years class just shows he means what he said his 1st day on the job. If this team can show some improvement on the field, this class could be epic.

I've said this whole time, kids have been looking for a reason to believe. That's all that has been missing. Hope and Belief.

Butch is bringing it. I think he's going to make a statement in a little city named Eugene.

Fans have been looking for a reason to believe as well. The fact is, some fans find their way there well before others. People should keep that in mind when calling others negavols. I like the start of this recruiting class, but it doesn't mean I'm all in for Butch yet. There are still games to play and NSD is a long way away. I want to believe, but until the hay's in the barn, I can only hope.

And personally, I think most fans that get referred to as negavols want to be proven wrong. They feel snake bit, and until we see it actually happen, we're too scared to buy in. Things have looked positive before, yet the walls still crumbled around us. For some of us, it's hard to be hopeful when every year your hopes are dashed.

Curious, why are they not ranked? Have they just not been evaluated yet?

Most likely. And some guys are more apt to attend camps where they're more visible.

Some prospects either choose not to do camps until after their junior season, or may not have the money to travel around to different ones. Those things are expensive.

But most likely, Rivals just hasn't gotten or gotten to their film. The fact that they've committed probably tells us that Rivals will be evaluating their films soon. Rivals hates to think that they have missed evaluating a stud prospect. They save face by evaluating them quickly. I'd be surprised if they are still unranked by the end of March/Mid-April.

I'm not necessarily a star gazer, but like it or not, the players rankings determine the perception of the momentum our program has.

Case in point: if we just landed 3 2*'s, would you be as excited? Most likely not.

But because we've just landed 2 4*'s this week, and we have visiting all of these high quality kids, we are definitely PERCEIVED as having more going on and more momentum.

I trust our staff's evaluations more than rivals, but most people base staff's recruiting ability off of the rankings.

Funny thing is, Coleman Thomas could end up being the first player drafted from that group. Recruiting services have been horrible at projecting offensive linemen, as evidenced by the constant 2 and 3 star players being taken in the first round. Thomas has as much upside as any of them. Beast. Might as well throw a book it in there as well.. Lol

That is a good looking list; we need a great class to add some quality depth to our roster. TNHope keep the updates coming, I don't always have time to check out rivals.

I think you made 4 very good points here, and I'd like to comment on your last one...

Some have been saying that "if we don't win at least 7 games this year none of this means nothin..." Blah blah blah and all that crap. I don't believe that at all.

Of course I'd love to see them win 9 or 10 games next year. That just ain't likely to happen.

But I don't think it's gonna take a certain win total to help us in recruiting. As Lebanon says here, we just have to show significant improvement on the field...gotta show that we're a good team that competes hard and shows in very game....Go play toe to toe with some teams nobody expects us to.

Butch has to show that he knows what he's doing and that the team is well coached. All this may not translate to 7 or more wins this year, but everyone (well, most everyone) will be able to see it.

If the team shows marked improvement, despite a 5 or 6 win season, the recruits will come.

Completely what I've been saying. Butch doesn't have to BEAT Oregon or BEAT Florida to get attention. He just has to be there at the end. Now, of course, if he beats them, he's a god. But he just has to show people we are just a few talented people away, if that be the case.

If he can even produce a formidable defense, he will win a ton of people over.

And to StoVol, you are correct. Fulton may be one of our best OL and he was a 3* on Rivals. They are not too great at evaluating OL at all. That's why I trust the coaches completely when it comes to OL. I've seen too many that are highly rated bust, and too many low rated studs in the OL.

Money. Also, I know I read some type of analysis on Butch right he was hired that statistically showed he historically has gotten about 2 games a year his team has no business winning. He does that here and BOOM GOES THE FREAKIN DYNAMITE

One thing I do believe about him is that he is the hardest working man there is.

So, if we lose Oregon and Florida, or Georgia or Bama, it's not going to be because we weren't prepared from a coaching standpoint.

I really think this man sits around and thinks all day about what he's going to do.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

Time to start inserting "Butch Jones" into Chuck Norris jokes?

Butch Jones has a grizzly bear rug in his office... The bear isn't dead he is just to scared to move.
