Pig Howard

Please elaborate on what your trying to say. Why does Pig need to redshirt in order to develop into an elite player? Carl Pickens redshirted in 1988 because he didn't play in the first few games of the season and then when CJM tried to play him Pickens refused to give up his redshirt. Pickens left after his junior year anyway. Pickens taking a redshirt didn't make him an elite player. If I'm correct Pig was an early enrollee so if he's physically ready to play I doubt he will redshirt.

What did Pickens do in the first game of his freshman (rs) year? Not sure he would have had that in him a year earlier. A man develops a lot as he approaches his 20s and it does the players good to get through their first year without the pressure. Regardless, if the coach plays him and he does well, I certainly won't argue.

Dooley will most likely play all the FR WR possible. Next year we probably lose the 4 top WRs that we had 1 week before the season started. We need as much mileage on them as possible IMO.

Or, he could redshirt and actually develop from a superior high school player into an elite college player. Research a guy named Carl Pickens for an example.

Too early to tell, but with the potential of losing Hunter & Patterson, I would think you have to have Howard getting meaningul snaps this yr to prepare him for a larger role next year.

I think we're going to be very vanilla in game 2.

I also think our backup QB's, WR's and many others will get alot of game time to get them more experience, get tape to study to correct their mistakes and get them more ready for next year just in case Bray, CP and Hunter all leave early for the NFL money.

We still have a young team and not as much experienced depth as we really need so getting a big lead early should be important so our young Vols can get alot of playing time to get better.

I look forward to seeing Pig and alot of our young guys playing this week so we can all see what we really have for the future.

VFL...GBO!!!

One of my favorite recruits in this freshman class. He can be used at multiple positions and like manningberry said, he can really spread the defense. Him and Devrin on the field at the same time will be fun to watch.

My anticipation of seeing Pig on the field is almost at the same level as I was with CP and McCullers. Pig is a bigger, faster, stronger, shiftier version of DY and he may very well make DY obsolete -- DY was a non-factor last week.

I think Pickens was playing for a JC his Freshman year.
