Don't forget Q Watson. Talk about fast. Q and Pig - sounds like a restaurant chain.

"Pig" was the player I wanted to see play the most of the freshman. Too bad he got injured but hearing great things about CP.

CDD said 2 weeks they get him back...so he will have some practice hits in before the first game.

How do you guys think he is going to fit in the offense in the future?

He was recruited to be a slot receiver but he seems like a player that could play some running back as well and make an impact like Dexter McCluster did at Ole Miss.

Thoughts?

I see him moved around on offense, but I'd love to see him used as a punt/kick block specialist like Chris Rainey was used at Florida. He has the same speed and body type.

I still remember making that drive to Ole Miss and watching him run our asses in the ground :cray:

That little sh!t was soo fast and shifty. He just destroyed us that day. Of course we'd just learned half our team was involved in the hamburger robery.

People seem a little enamored with Pig's "pure" speed. He is by no means a "burner", certainly in the classic sense anyway. The best 100m I'm aware of him running is an 11.02.

To be fair though Pig seems to make very good "use" of his speed. Some guys have crazy jets but don't seem to know how to utilize it well unless they find themselves in open field and if you can't make guys miss you don't get a lot of open field opportunities.

I like the McCluster comparison since he is, in fact, one of those guys who knows how to make use of every bit of speed he has. In case you didn't know McCluster's combine 40 time was a screaming 4.58.

Actually i think the thing with Mc was his explosiveness..not top end speed so much....not an authority but for football I'd rather have the explosiveness and follow blockers...

Some people just have an innate ability to navigate through things. A 4.6 guy with the pedal down knowing where he's going is going to "look" a lot faster than a 4.3 guy running hesitantly and dumping speed all over the place. (guys that don't like getting hit are prone to this)

I believe it was a stress fracture in his foot. Christian had the acl tear

That is correct. Still in a boot, at least for two more weeks.

Don't be shocked if he doesn't step on the field until the Florida game. We won't need him for the first 2 games. He could be the difference on Sept 15.

Would rather have him 100% than play in 2 meaningless games at 80%

I agree he is only a freshman no need to put him in a game unless he is completely healthy and ready to play.

Living near Orlando, I saw Pig play live three or four times, plus a lot on film/TV highlights. The kid is legit. The high school football talent is pretty good down here (behind enemy lines) and he made some decent defenses look silly. He is cat-quick and has great straight-up speed. Based on watching him work with the ball in space, he seems to have football smarts and has great field vision.

I have seen Pig throw for a TD, return a punt for a TD, and catch a pass for a TD – all in the same 10 minutes of game action. His junior season, I saw him catch for more than 200 yards in one game against a team that made the big-school playoffs in Florida.

He's a great athlete, and hopefully, he'll perform at the same level for the Big Orange as he did at a pretty good high school level. :)

Is Pig already practicing? If I am reading this right, it sure looks like it.

The Vols have auditioned several players at Wildcat this weekend.

Tailback Marlin Lane has been on the veteran side of practice, while linebacker Justin King and receiver Alton "Pig" Howard have worked in the freshman group.
