Pics to shut up annoying UNC fans

Yeah, you know making those kicks would stop those comments. He let his team, his school, and the fans down. While I'm mad at this one, the one I'm truly mad at was last year at Alabama. He had two freaking kicks blocked, no excuse for that.

Exactly. Lincoln is a good kid, I wish him the best, he just had no business EVER kicking at Tennessee, where we have had a history of great kickers.

Fulmer's final kick in the ass.

If they wouldve called the late hit on tennessee the spike wouldn't happen.

The one where our OLB was pushed in the back into the guy?

If not, by rule you are correct, the spike never should have happened anyway. The ref had it right when he called the game the first time.

he left his feet to make the hit....that's what the penalty was, other than that it was a clean hit to the back with his shoulder...BUT he left his feet, that's what made it an illegal hit

How was that not clipping? Head placed in the back. Isn't that a text book definition of what clipping is?

Leaving your feet isn't illegal.

Looked through the rule book several times today...nothing about leaving your feet for a hit. Nothing...all it denotes is targeting a player with a hit above the shoulders and/or with your helmet. Nothing about leaving your feet. Period.

It's a penalty based on the defenseless receiver rule, not "launching", not an "above the shoulder rule", but it was a defenseless receiver penalty by definition.

There sure is a lot of mythology around Jackson's Hit.

There is no launching rule.
Leaving your feet is perfectly legal.
The hit was not with the crown of the helmet
The hit was not even above the shoulders.

The hit was successful in jarring the ball loose
The player landed out of bounds. No catch.
Beautiful play Janzen.

Bob Davies is an idiot announcer - not an authority on the rules.

Sorry, but a defenseless receiver is one that is blindsided as they are attempting to reach for a catch or one that is "relaxed". A defenseless receiver is NOT one that catches the ball along the sideline knowing the defensive back is there and is bracing himself for a hit...as this receiver was. Sorry, defenseless receiver don't cut it...you can take that argument and apply it to anyone that catches the ball and is hit immediately. Simple fact of the matter is the ref thought Jackson hit him too hard, which last time I checked, hitting someone hard enough to knock the ball loose was the point. Had Jackson hit him in the head or something of that sort...OK...fine. But to hit someone in the back with your shoulder pads is legal. Maybe everyone should just run down the field and catch balls with their backs to the defenders to get these calls. The call was BS. To add to that, the pics clearly show (and was missed badly by the replay crew) that when the receiver was hit (legally or not) he lost control of the ball (notice it coming out by his right elbow) and he didn't ever really gain control...but even if he did...his upper body came down out of bounds first...and in college football, you can knock the receiver out of bounds to prevent a catch. Blown call on two levels.

It's not against the rules in College ball, but in the NFL it is against the rules as of this year.

The NFL rule is actually quite similar to the college rule:

2. "Launching" and "Dip and Rip."A defensive player must not "launch" himself (spring forward and upward) into a defenseless player, or otherwise strike him in a way that causes the defensive player's helmet or facemask to forcibly strike the defenseless player's head, neck, or face-even if the initial contact of the defender's helmet or facemask is lower than the defenseless player's neck. (Examples: a defender buries his facemask into a defenseless player's high chest area, but the defender's trajectory as he leaps into the defenseless player causes the defender's helmet to strike the defenseless player violently in the head or face; or a defender, using a face-on posture or with his head slightly lowered, hits a defenseless player in an area below the defenseless player's neck, then the defender's head moves upward, resulting in strong contact by the defender's mask or helmet with the defenseless player's head, neck, or face (one example is the so-called "dip and rip" technique.)

If they banned "leaving your feet" I think the game of football would be over as we know it.

All the bickering about the refs is sad. We had this game won and we blew it. The penalty for Janzen Jackson was for launching himself into the player not using his helmet...

Thanks for the lecture. It's less than 24 hours after Tennessee lost a game that had some horribly bad calls in it. I think that is worthy of discussion.

All the bickering about the refs is sad. We had this game won and we blew it. The penalty for Janzen Jackson was for launching himself into the player not using his helmet. we lost due to a comedy of errors.first mistake missing a lousy extra point. then not getting a first down on last possesion taking a time out instead of the delay of game which would have used up the one secong and given cunningham more room for putting them deep in their territory. personal foul by Janzen afetr letting receiver catch the ball 30 yards down the field. not calling a timeout to ice the kicker. getting a personal foulby running into the kicker and finally the interception. these were all mistakes that could have changed the game. We lost because we deserved to lose. All the fans calling out the players like they are professionals is a bunch of garbage. they make mistakes they are just young men for gods sake I dont ever here about the field goals he makes or the tackles or catches or runs that many of the players make just the negative crap. True fans support their teams through good and bad and dont demonize their own players. i want you to think about this. Think about all the extra points and field goals he missed. all the times he use to kick the ball off before when he only got it to the 15 or 20 yard line. now remember all the bad things said about him in these forums the truly brutal comments he had to read about him. Now picture these same things being said about your child and you having to read these things after every game In case you forgot he also won a couple of games for us too

I can somewhat, and only that, see missing FG's...So many variables...Wind,angle and distance but come on, EXTRA POINTS ??...They should be automatic...He didn't look good on the three he hit...THAT'S ALL HE DOES !!!...I can't see why some people can't get their heads around that...

I get so tired of people complaining about people complaining. I guess I am complaining about people complaining about complaining.

Just let people vent. If you don't like it go to another thread or go to bed.
