Positives, center fielder Alex Leshock led the team in hitting as a freshman, even though it was just a .253 average. But he did steal 12 bases in 14 attempts while also possessing the ability of snagging plenty of gap shots in the outfield. Also, fellow outfielder Kendall McGowan had a bang-em-up summer in the Coastal Plains League where he hit .392.
On the mound, RHP Will Sprinkle wasn’t a starter until the last five weekends of 2018 and the coaches were really excited about his development, having gone 2-1, 2.96 in 48 innings last season. He should take over the Friday role and will team with Freshman RHP Tyler Tuthill, who the coaches are really high on. RHPs Cameron Kepley (0-1, 6.18) and Brandon Boone (3-5, 5.01) will contribute to the Herculean effort of making the Mountaineers pitching staff viable again. Sprinkle will sit 88-91 with his fastball, along with a solid changeup and a slider that developed in the offseason, while Kepley has an 88-92 fastball and a solid slider to go with a developing splitter. Meanwhile, Boone is a mid-80s pitchability guy with a solid slider and changeup combo.

Weekend Series
3 Points awarded if you correctly pick 2-1, 1-2 . No points awarded for a 1 game weekend series
1 Point awarded if you pick 2-1 and the Vols Sweep
6 Points awarded if you correctly pick a Sweep or Swept, doesn't matter if we only get in 1 or 2 games due to weather
