Ruffin McNeill. He was the interim coach for Texas Tech during their bowl game. With all the crap going on with Leach and the James kid, he found a way to motivate the team and come away with a pretty impressive victory over Michigan State.

Anyway, I'd love to see Patterson or Petersen but both just signed new contracts. Shooting for Cowher or Gruden just seems like nonsense; Gruden probably isn't even that great a coach. Muschamp makes sense but he's in a great spot for now. Austin is amazing, the recruiting pool is easy in Texas, and they're currently a juggernaut.

I think we need a big hire though. Contact Patterson, Petersen, Muschamp and see where it goes. What about Skip Holtz?

I don't even know who I want at this point. I wanted Brian Kelly instead of Kiffin in the first place. Any way we can turn back time and go with that hire???
I guess I'd be okay with Harbaugh.
Are the other coaches staying on staff, or are more guys than CMK and CEO leaving?

When I heard that Lane Kiffin was leaving for USC the first two names that came to my mind were Dan Mullen and Kirby Smart. I have tremendous respect for both of those guys and would love to have either of them as are next HC. What do you guys think?

I don't expect them to ask me but my first choice would be Chucky Boy Gruden. Harbaugh or Patterson are 2nd. Muschamp is another good choice. I fear that they will look to somebody like Cutcliffe and would puke at the thought of Leach.

How realistic is it that we can get anyone who is currently a HC in college though? At this point anyone who would take the job would be just as much of a piece of crap to come here and leave their own school like Kiffin with UT. We'll probably just have to hire some assistant somewhere, deal with them for 3 or 4 years, and then take a real chance at this once we can fire them.

I personally support the hiring of Muschamp. He's a young, energetic guy that has coached at the SEC level and would be a good hire. If not, Muschamp I'd say Patterson, then Edsall, then Gruden(just think it would be really hard to get him from the tv gig for anything not in the NFL). Waiting on the Bill Cowher rumors to begin again anytime soon. I think Coach Cut is a player in this whole situation(he's reportedly expressed interest to his AD at Duke in the job here) because as a quick hire situation, he's a known quantity to Hamilton. As long as hambone stays away from Leach, I'm fine. My gut tells me it comes down to the Right Reverend Houston Nutt or Muschamp. Just a gut feeling.

ESPN was reporting last night that UT has reached out to Muschamp and he responded as willing to listen, take that for whatever it's worth. Chris Low and John Brice were saying that Hamilton has reached out to Troy Calhoun at Air Force as well, who was a finalist 14 mos. ago. I'd say we'll be looking at Houston Nutt, Coach Cut, Calhoun, we'll reach out to Patterson(who will turn us down because he's happy being a hero at TCU), Gruden will get a feeler put out to gauge his possible interest(but he's made no secret he views himself as an NFL guy), but I'm not sure about what other Coordinators we look at because I don't know who all the hot commodities are. Peterson's name will be mentioned but I doubt he gets much play here, Mike Gundy might flirt with us, but I doubt we take much interest in him. Those are my guesses.

I want Muschamp, he was my first choice along with Butch Davis the first time around. I have always wanted Muschamp.
