Pick 5 losses you can live with

Anybody that can be positive about Dooley won't have any trouble finding a positive in a pile of horse sh#t.

I am positive that I will not be digging around in any piles of horse crap. And just because you chose to be negative will in no way affect my positive outlook on life. Perhaps it is you, sir, that need to examine your state of being and determine if you are the muckraker. On that point, I am positive.

No such creature exists! Never accept that UT will lose until clock reads 00:00 and the other team has a higher score. Balderdash to those that say any athlete should accept a loss! Why the eff should they play?

Answer that if you accept ANY loss prior to the game being played. Not a VFL if you do!

Georgia and Florida are in our players heads big time so its gonna take a great game to beat them.

Do not sleep on Florida.. NC state is also a dangerous game being the first of the year. Bama, SC are also possibilities UGA and Missou could go either way.

A majority of you have voted that 8-5 is an acceptable outcome for the Vols next year. For those who picked that option, what 5 losses are acceptable?

8/30 or 9/1 - NC State (Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic)
9/8 - Georgia State
9/15 - Florida
9/22 - Akron
9/29 - at Georgia
10/6 - BYE
10/13 - at Mississippi State
10/20 - Alabama
10/27 - at South Carolina
11/3 - Troy
11/10- Missouri
11/17 - at Vanderbilt
11/24 - Kentucky

Bowl

you know 8-5 could mean a 5 loss regular season OR an 8-4 season

which idea are you wanting here?

There is a significant difference between us as fans accepting losses and players accepting losses.

None. As a long time fan of the Vols (since i was sitting on my grandpa's knee). I will not accept a loss. It's time for the Vols to rise up to earlier standards and be at the top again.

I could stand to lose the Orange and White game, and maybe the bye week. Undecided on that game. Other than that I accept no losses.

I did watch Missouri play 3 times this year and there is no reason to think that they will come in to Neyland and run over us. Out side of Alabama, I think every other game is a very winnable game. Not saying it is going to happen, but I refuse to concede the 2012 season 1 week after the end of the 2011 season. Defeatist may, so feel free to do so.

Especially the way we killed Kentucky in the last game.....oh wait :birgits_giggle:

Give me some hope for Dooley also. Can you give me something he is doing better than the rest of the SEC?

I really see us going 6-6 next year. All depends on the first game in ATL and the Mizzou game. That being said our 5 losses are- Nc St, FL, GA, AL, SC.

I don't think we lose 5 games, but the 5 most likely losses are in bold.

Just a quick glance... it looks like Missouri returns a lot of players. Florida on the other hand loses Demps. Will Rainey leave too? Brantley will, but that might be addition by subtraction.

Anyway, I think Missou will be better than Florida next year.

We just aren't ready to play with UA yet and I just want to beat UF sooooo bad.

OP, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I see what you are doing here, and I tend to agree.

You are trying to get people to see what we "should" be able to do next year, in their own words.

Then, if/when UT doesn't meet those expectations, they won't be able to deny that Dooley is not the man for the job. Correct?

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong, but I don't believe he is the man for the job. I hope he is, and I hope he wins so big that he retires from UT. I just don't see it at this time.

And finally, to answer the OP, we should not lose 5 games in the regular season next year, with that schedule. We "should" beat NC St, Ga St, Akron, Miss St, Missouri, Troy, Vandy, UK, for 8 wins. Surely, surely we can pull 1 upset, in year three under Dooley.

If we only win 7-8 games, that means we are only beating the teams we "should" beat.
I can't really be satisfied until we "should" be beating 9-11 teams on the schedule per year ... in other words until the 90's type of winning returns to UT.

Are you just trying to see how many different negative angles you can come from? Heck why not start a thread on how many points we will give up in each individual game. Over and under. We know you don't like Dooley. While I may not like some of the things that happened this year, I am believing that things will get better, starting with next season. Personally I could do with out 5 more negative-anti vol post. Have a nice day.

I agree....the OP is trying to convince himself of something.....Not sure what? Has taken every negative angle possible....Pinpointing losses without any variable or known built into the question is not wanting the best for this....

It is this approach and harping over it time and time again this just wastes space and time....Acceptable who knows what is acceptable.....Wishing OP or trying to determine if you should renew your season tickets....

This is the umpteenth thread you have started....Ask the question before the season starts....We haven't had any changes to the staff except for one leaving....NSD is two and a half months away....EEs not on board yet.....Spring practice has not even occurred and the list goes on.....Yet you want what is acceptable.....Right now nothing is acceptable including this post..

Get a grip on your gripeing.....

8-5 is not acceptable to me, so I have a hard time with this.

5 losses are NOT ACCEPTABLE. That many losses are NEVER ACCEPTABLE and should NEVER BE ACCEPTABLE at Tennessee.

With that schedule, only 3 losses at the most would be "understandable" not "acceptable"

The understandable losses could possibly be Alabama, S. Carolina and Georgia. Anything more than that is absolute crap and Dudley Doo-little should be summarily given his walking papers.

Has that schedule been finalized yet? Last time I knew, it hasn't. We could very well get Arkansas at home instead of Miss. State on the road. That would actually make more sense, since we haven't completed that home and home yet. Then we would play Missouri on the road.
