What has stood out is how relentless he is pursuing the ball and how he's able to generate pressure on quarterbacks.

"I've just been practicing really hard, running to the ball, just playing 100 percent every down, just trying to give my all," Phillips said. "I think my biggest asset is my motor. You can make something out of nothing, and I think that's the biggest thing I've been doing this summer. I still have a lot of room to improve. I'm not a perfect player."

The past year matured Phillips and taught him a valuable lesson about maximizing every practice and every play. "I've got to outwork everybody, because you never know when your last down will be," Phillips said. "All these guys support me so much, and they see so much potential in me, I don't want to let those guys down. That's what makes me push every day."

I've been a Phillips fan since we started recruiting him--great size, speed, motor and class guy. He's the type kid we need to keep recruiting

Hope he has a healthy year. If so, he will produce as his talent stands out quickly.

We need more Patrick Browns reporting. Hard to believe UT's best news reporter isn't on the KNS staff.

The local newspaper business is dead..

Yup! LOL, and they do more every day to alienate what few remaining paying customers they have left!! If you still own newspaper stock, sorry you lost your money. if you own cable tv stock, better sell it now if you've not already, probably will be next to worthless in <5 years.

Agree. And we need a talented 5 star in state player from middle Tennessee like him to have great success here. He also seems like such a great kid, I'm pulling for him as hard as I am any other player on the roster.

I've said all along that if this young man stays healthy he'll become a all SEC stud playmaker for us.

He's strong, has a quick twitch get off the ball, runs fast and knows how to get around blocks.

QB's will be watching him all day long.

Step by step we're building a Champion...VFL...GBO!!!

I agree wholeheartedly with this. If all the other players are to possess the attitude that he does...look out.
