Philip Fulmer on ESPN Bowl Coverage

I respect your opinion and right to it, but (to me) the guy gave quick, appropriate analysis during the highlights of each game (the toughest part of that gig, IMO) and seemed comfortable in front of a camera for his first stab at this. Not a bad audition for an old offensive lineman from Winchester. I believe he'll be back in Bristol in some capacity as an analyst unless he's offered a coaching job somewhere.
if you thought that was compelling, you must have enjoyed the last 10 years of his tenure at UT.

CPF has forgotten more FB than the vast majority on this board will ever know. Doesn't get it my ass.

I think Fulmer will end being a color commentator on some of ESPN's "B" games. Kind of like Kentucky's former coach ended up doing.

On a sidebar, how would anyone feel if Fulmer ended up doing radio for the Vol Network next to Bob Kesling in a few years?

He could not do any worse than Kesling.

I actually heard him on Tirico and Van Pelt today say that he was enjoying not being a coach and not having the pressure on him. I predict he's out of coaching for good.

i thought fulmer did a pretty good job. if anyone on this board feels that being in front of a camera essentally talking off the top of your head is easy, you are sorely mistaken.

I agree and coach isn't doing a very dynamic job of it. He may just have rookie jitters or something but he needs to step it up. But who ever accused him of being an energetic dynamo anyway. :)

right, but i tell you what, it did look like he was enjoying himself. i always enjoy that show, and i like how there is an underlying emphasis on ut.

He doesn't need the money, if he makes it in the media circles, he may not come back. Or he may a Terry Bowden, where he wears out his welcome everywhere...

I wish fulmer the best! I'm glad he is gone now, and i'm excited about the future. I wish some fans would let it go and move on.

If he signs the right contract with ESPN, he could cover the taxes on his $6 Million buy out

Actually, I enjoyed every year except 2005 and 2008. Besides, that comment has nothing to do with the thread, now does it?

I thought he had good insight, and didn't jabber on like granny clampit. I wish all the analysts were more like him, direct and accurate analysis and less wandering thoughts.
