Saw PF on ESPN yesterday and thought he did quite well with his analysis of the bowl games. He may have found something to "fall back" on while his $6M earns interest....thoughts?

I want the best for him.
I hope he finds something to do with his time that he loves.
He is a good guy!

I thought he was stiff. Only watched him for about 15 seconds though before I started having painful flashbacks to all those day-after-a-loss Phillip Fulmer Shows. Had to turn to the channel.

I think Phil did a fair job. He'll get better as he loosens up. Fulmer isn't used to criticizing publicly so if he's to become a good commentator he'll have to put some bite into his comments.

Phil sure did fill up the screen...I thought he did a good job and I noticed less SPIT on the camera lens since he took some of Holtz's time.

He looked about as uncomfortable as you can get. This gig cant last long because he was completely out of his element. As much as I hate Lou, he looks better suited to TV than phil. Lou cant talk, but he plays to the camera, Phil looked like he was in pain most of the time.

another thing is that Phil commented like he was still coaching and scared to give someone bulletin board material

For the first time doing this, I thought he did fine. As the show went along he became more comfortable, and made some good points. I think too many tv analysts try to bring too much attention to themselves rather than to what they are covering. (Corso for instance)

It seemed like he was out of his element to me to. It was almost like he was afraid to comment unless he was specifically asked a question.

Wouldn't it be fun to watch interaction between Fulmer and Rece if Bama loses to Utah?

The potential Rece-Fulmer dynamic is the only thing that kept me watching.

He did seem out of his element a little bit, but I thought he did a really good job for the 1st time in a position like that.. I wonder if Lou is about to retire and they are looking for a replacement for him.. I think Phil will do a good job once he settles into the position a little bit, most likely will just take some time to get used to it though... I don't anyone could expect him to win 10 games out his 1st time.. uh I mean be as good as guys that have been doing it along time.. Whoops got my guys mixed up there for a second..

I think this is better for him, then returning to coaching. I don't think he is going to get as many opportunities to return to coaching as he hoped. He'd have to do something like Terry Bowden did, I don't think he's ready for that.

Funny how people see things different things. He looked very comfortable to me. I believe He is very well suited for this.

I think Fulmer will end being a color commentator on some of ESPN's "B" games. Kind of like Kentucky's former coach ended up doing.

On a sidebar, how would anyone feel if Fulmer ended up doing radio for the Vol Network next to Bob Kesling in a few years?

Phil is going to start doing the Todd Blackledge "Taste of the Town" segment.

I totally agree. When asked, his analysis was spot on and thorough. I don't believe he was in the position to voluntarily offer up his analysis. I think he was in the guest role and was only supposed to comment when asked. He did a fine job and will get more opportunities to do this. Don't be surprised if he isn't offered some sort of position at ESPN during the CFB season.

I know everyone is buzzing about the press conference but Phil is scheduled to be on The Herd last hour of the show. Just thought I would give everyone a heads up.

I really can't think of a much less compelling TV presence than Fulmer was. He might get better with time, but that was very weak, especially looking at some offscreen monitor constantly.

I'd like to see him find a way to make it stick because there is some chance it would help UT in the long run, but I'll just have to avoid the show when he's on it.
