...that we will be 4-4 in the SEC, with loses to of course Florida, then Alabama, Arkansas, and drumroll please......

KENTUCKY.

Link Here----> PHIL STEELE

I hope he's wrong, but I can see this happening. Surprised he has us beating Georgia, with him being a Georgia guy and also the recent Neyland Stadium/Georgia history.

Thoughts?

On a sidenote, he has his preseason #1 pick for the SEC East (South Carolina) ending 3-5 in the SEC.

I'd be interested to know what he's seen about South Carolina that changed his mind; dropping them from winning the division to 3-5 is a pretty big swing. Especially since they already beat Georgia.

Edit: just noticed that he has South Carolina losing to Georgia up there, judging from which teams are in red, so I'm not sure what's going on there.

Yeah . . . It really doesn't make much sense.

His #1 pick for the SEC East was split between Georgia and South Carolina, so he must have seen something during that game that turned him off, or he saw Florida hang 59 on us and he was totally taken. Which is what I'm guesing is the case.

Good to see that Steele's web site is as hard to read as his magazine; the man has got to figure out where his enter key is. His "Weekly Notes" page looks like a series of really bad message board posts.

He has SC losing to Florida, LSU, Arkansas and UT.
He had them losing to GA but they already won.

That's part of his magic. So much information and hardcore analysis that there's no time for such things as good english and eye-candy form.

I can take or leave Phil Steele, I just put it up because there is a lot of people that put much stock into his word.

I don't care about good writing and eye-candy; I mean that I just can't read those enormous blocks of text with no paragraph breaks. He might say the greatest stuff in the world in there somewhere, but it's too much work to get at it.

I know he makes loot from those books. Of course, he needs to have a staff to help him and they need to be paid. He also has to pay for his TV's and multiple Gameplan subscriptions.

Would it really deplete his financials to hire somone to make it look as good as the information seems to be?

I think he takes pride in the whole, I do this all by myself, and uses it as a selling point.:eek:lol:

I think if we lose to Vandy and lose the bowl game, he will be fired. Most programs don't give coaches "last chance" seasons.

Could be argued that 2006 was Phil's last chance.

Possibly but I think this season is it. I thought we had a good team last year and with a lot of starters returning and a senior qb I thought we could fix the issues of last year's team ie running game, rushing the passer, running defense, special teams. Apparently not. Not only are they not better, I think each is just as bad if not worse. We rank dead last in the nation on punt coverage as other teams average 42 yards per punt return. Not good considering that special teams was an emphasis this spring and fall. None of the new schemes are working, and virtually no one has made significant improvement in the offseason. Mayo and Hefney have each gotten worse actually. So way to go Phil. In the year that had huge potential for improvement, we get almost unanimously worse.

Love the kid but he has been dissapointing this season. I hope he turns it around. I want to say Mel Kiper had him as one of the best Senior DB's going into 2008's draft. Here's to him turning around and proving Kiper right, but as of right now he's free falling.

I don't give a rat's a#* about Phil Steele. Now Kevin Steele that's a different matter. I wish he were our defensive coordinator right now! (But it will never happen as long a Fulmer is the HC).:banghead2:

I can't believe we give up 42 yards per punt return. I wasn't aware the new rule affected punt coverage too.

Wow, someone that doesn't know Phil Steele?

He's a football prognosticating God to some. His claim to fame is his preseason magazines which have about 250 pages and are cover to cover with nothing but information and minimal advertisments.
