I think we will all know more after Florida. I’ve just learned to not even guess how good a team will be until we play that game.

Our O simply MUST execute very well because the Pitt D is going to be very stout.

Our D simply MUST be better than last season and we must stop their run game and try to control the clock better so they don't wear down our D too early.

I think this will be a nail biter but I think we'll get the WIN.

I think the difference will be HCJH being a better chess player than the Pitt DC and he'll call some perfect plays at just the right times.

VFL...GBO!!!

They return all five starters on the offensive line. They return six all-conference selections on defense. They have one of the better defensive lines in the country. If they get decent QB play out of Slovis, they’ll be good.
It’s an understandable loss, but we could’ve and really should’ve beaten them last year. And that was heupels first year, and we had just lost like 30 players to the portal. It’s a real tough game to predict

How many teams are in his "top units"? Cant believe our defensive position groups would be making his top units.

@BigOrangeTrain

Sir,

Do you still believe Florida is better than Pitt?

This isn't my rankings. This is Phil Steele.
Maybe he and I know something you don't...

Sure, but they’re All-ACC. That’s a big step below playing against a bunch of All-SEC players like we face every year when we play Bama and Georgia. Also, Pickett was the reason they won games last year. Slovis is overrated, and he and his entire offense will be learning a brand new offense. Pitt is going to be severely overrated at the start of this season.

I hope so, that way if and when we win, we get more hype.

He does quite a bit of projecting and tbf 2020 was god awful.

Just look how bad we were expected for 2021 and Heupel's shocker season. Then expand it out for a 2nd season.
Agreed. Just showing that Steele is not high on the Vols every year. Only have to go back one year for proof of that.

Agree. That doesn’t help my uneasiness about THIS season though
Well…let me help you. We have that same DUDE that absolutely torched Pitt’s secondary. We have a Quarterback that can hit those throws. We have several other DUDES that will be able to torch their DBs. We have 2 Seasoned LBs and a 3rd guy that is flashing. We have 2 seasoned Edge rushers that are ready to break out. 2 interior guys with experience and a couple of spares that may surge. If we get a few DBs to come into their own n their second year in the system…I stand by what I said.

If for no other reason than your "name", I expect you have much more knowledge on our football program than I. How ever I still expect the defensive performance will be the biggest key this season.
