Phil Fulmer...

I could pick out any famous coach's record against six others that I hand-picked and come out with similar results. I did that exercise once on here and made Bear Bryant and Tom Osborne look like the worst coaches who ever lived by hand-picking their record against people they had some trouble with. (Look up Bear's record against Bob Neyland...)....
those six are the top half of the SEC... losing regularly to them is not acceptable... you can see that he was at the bottom of that pack...

Head to head records among these 7 coaches:
Miles 9-4 (.692)
Meyer 9-6 (.600)
Tuberville 17-13 (.567)
Richt 15-13 (.536)
Spurrier 16-14 (.533)
Saban 8-10 (.444)
Fulmer 11-25 (.306)

God, I wish Fulmer would get another job so all you Fulmer slurpers could follow him there. Too bad that won't happen, because the rest of the football world sees what you fail to see. He is washed up and done.

Just loyal to a great coach, no need for name calling. Especially from you

was at the game today. He may have been forced out of coaching but he is still one of our biggest fans. Once a vol, always a vol!

Sure he's one of our biggest fans......to the tune of six million dollars. Bilking us for every dollar he can. Once a godfather always a godfather.

Time passed Coach Fulmer by,but he won a hell of lot of ball games for us.
I hope Coach Dooley has a good of a record as Phil, when all is said and done.

Great???? As in the one to assemble the greatest amount of gangsters on the Hill, amongst the ones to bilk the university out of $$$$$ he is the greatest, those that could not scheme or make adjustments he is the greatest as well......not to mention those that were the worst disciplinarians....well, he is the greatest in that catagory by far.

I'd say surviving a decade of no titles, two losing seasons and hijacking our AD for raises and a contract that netted him $6MM for being hammered for cause qualifies as credit.

Sexton negotiated Fulmer's contract with Hambone

Fulmer will be hailed a great Vol after most of his detractors are dead and forgotten. I would like to forget them now. Thanks Coach

I appreciate CPF's accomplishments as much as anybody. However, it was time for him to go. Glad that he is still a Vol through and through.

152 wins, two SEC championships and the school's only legitimate national championship since 1951. No one needs to apologize for Phil Fulmer and he doesn't need to apologize for himself.

And by the way...find a Tennessee coach who doesn't have a loss to Vandy on his record somewhere. It does happen sometimes. Majors lost a game to Vandy. Bill Battle lost to (and tied) Vandy, and so did Doug Dickey. Shoot, Bob Neyland lost to them three times and tied them twice. The only reason you're griping about it is because the same Phil Fulmer you're bashing spoiled you for so many years.

One thing Phil Fulmer doesn't have on his record, however, is a loss to Kenturkey. I'm glad he was at the game today.
How many losses to Memphis, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky does Lane Kiffin have?

Glad to hear that about Fulmer, I think we got a coach in Dooley who will win and be here a long time. I mean he didnt go to Georgia. He had a job at La Tech now Head coach of the Tennessee Vols, Thats like going from the basement to the penthouse. I think he has his dream job right now. Just win baby!!!!

It may not be his "dream job" but it is without a doubt a destination job for him. Coach Dooley will be here for a long time and win a bunch of games IMO. I think this will prove to be an excellent hire...Hammy may have hit another hire out of the park like he did with Bruce.

Be loyal all you want to him. What I take exception with is the fact that people like you cannot see past your own nose, see the fact that he had become lazy and complacent, and that the game had passed him by. You still say it was wrong to let him go after this program has obviously been taken to the dumpster. He wasn't going to pull it out.

Memorialize him. Pay homage to him. It's fine. It is idiocy, however, to believe that 10 years without an SEC championship, 2 losing seasons in 4 years, and getting blown out by your biggest rivals Florida and Alabama on a perennial basis, is not enough to get one fired.

Dont you guys know that we are supposed to tear down previous coaches no matter what they achieved or how much they loved Tenn. that is the M O of volnation isnt it from the cool posters here. the witty , sarscatic know it alls . That is the way is seems. How dare you speak something positive about this man with a weight problem and a Winning record and NC and 2 SEC titles because although he beat Vandy numerous times that one loss was ,apparently, all that one poster could rememeber to mention. All these facts makes Phillip Fulmer the devil apparently Bobby Boucher, and oh yeah he is a native of the state , again terrible isnt he. For the love of god, we ALL know his record and how all you feel, we know he slipped at the end, we know it was a time for change but cant you guys just go by the old adage of if you dont anything good to say dont say anything. the Op just pointed out it was good to see him at the game not calling for him to be reinstated.

Then why does it need to be pointed out that it "was good to
see him at the game?" Since he is the most loyal Vol ever.
It is pointed out as if it surprising that he is there.
