After watching the replay, and listening to the commentary, a few rambling ideas:
1. The O-line was definitely sub-par. Watch the blocking -- you will see a number of misses. A couple that stood out (use TiVO or DVR): on the sack-fumble, the left end gets manhandled and stumbles all the way back to the other side of the line, stands up, and looks lost, and on a late rushing attempt, the right end goes right by his man, again untouched, and hits Riggs in the backfield.
2. Why throw a 5 yard pass on 3rd and long?
3. Why does the punt coverage team play the receiver instead of running down and looking back for the ball? OF COURSE he's going to fake a "fair catch" on the 10. Get your tails to the one and catch the #$@%ing ball! Watch the difference in UGA's coverage and ours and you will see the light.
4. Clausen was, forgive me you Rick-for-president freaks, mediocre at best. The series in the red zone is haunting. A missed easy seam pass, then a way underthrown corner route. That's QB101. The corner route gets a deep ball -- either a TD or incompletion, no questions asked. IMO, this was maybe the most telling turn of the game.
5. Fulmer needs to be a little more upset. I know he's trying to act strong and confident, but wow. "Well, we'll need to look at the film on that one" isn't cutting it with me.
6. The fumble recovery for UGA was DEFINITELY picked up by a guy in orange, on his back, and down. How the replay official missed that one? No idea. Another game-breaker.
7. Randy sheepishly disclosed his dictated limitations. I don't remember his exact words, but something to the extent of "Coach Fulmer has a philosophy on offense, and that's what we work with."
8. Watch the punt return TD. Who is the guy that completely misses the tackle? In perfect position, and hardly even gets a hand on him. Watch it slow, and you can't miss it.
9. Glad we learned from the reverse Florida ran against us for a TD. Not.
Thoughts???
