Did Saturday's performance undermine his farewell reception against Kentucky? Seems like last Monday after the announcement there was a sense of relief, and that the Volnation would pull for him to win out and leave on a high note... enjoy his last couple games, celebrate the successes, etc.

Now, after arguably the most embarrassing loss in school history, I feel like the attitude might be more of "good riddance." Not saying this is right or wrong.

Thoughts?

That KY game has a lot riding on it for Fulmer. Not only the streak against KY is in jeopardy, but the lasting memory that many will have of Fulmer will be of his meteoric rise and abrupt crash and burn over the last few seasons.

If anything, the Wyoming loss confirmed Hamilton's decision.

The day he resigned was Phil Fulmer day in my mind. After this trash we saw against Wyoming, I don't care much about a formal send off. Good-bye horrible football season...try again next year.

I agree, no more tears for Fulmer. Im not sure whether it is talent, coaching or a mixture of both, but losing to Wyoming is downright ridiculous. Fulmer fiddled while Rome burned.

Good post Jack. Without a doubt this embarrassing lost will now taint Phil Fulmer day. I can assure you, there were lots of people planning on going to the Kentucky game to send Fulmer off with a happy farewell that has suddenly changed their mind.

The empathetic part of me feels bad for Phil, but in the end, you reap what you sow, and he's being paid much more than he's worth. Hopefully those $$ will provide some consolation to him.

I don't know how it was even possible to lose that game... especially with all the rhetoric from the players on Monday. You'd think Phil would have tried harder to finish with a bowl game and winning season.

If he loses to Vandy and Kentucky and we end with 9 losses, his legacy is greatly tarnished, despite the NC. I have no interest in seeing him coach his last game. I've seen enough.

I don't think many people will be sad to see him go after Saturday's loss. I'll admit I got a bit teary watching the press conference, but now I'm more than ready to see him go. I don't think he'll go out beeing booed or anything, but I wouldn't expect an outpouring of emotion when he walks off the field for the last time. Especially if it ends with a termination of our longest winning streak with Kentucky.

i am mixed about it. but in the end i'm ready to get this awful season over with. i feel obligated to watch them, so i pay for the pay per view games. Phil owes me 25 for Sat. Just glad that 2 more games and it's over.

This season is just a culmination of the direction our program has been going in since losing to LSU in the SEC Championship in '01. We should NEVER, EVER lose to a Wyoming (and we should have lost to NIU as well), but this is how pathetic our program has become under Fulmer. How can our offense be so dam* bad?! We haven't broken double digits in the last 3 games and there is no way we beat Vandy or UK - they smell blood in the water this year. I have 6 miliion reasons not to feel sorry for Fulmer and just thinking about Josh Briscoe and those other players throwing their little hissy fit at the press conference and then they come out and lose to Wyoming - what a joke! THIS WILL GO DOWN AS THE WORST FOOTBALL TEAM IN UT HISTORY - HANDS DOWN!!!

I will still cheer him at the UK game. Yes, losing to Wyoming was an outright embarrassment but the seaosn was at an all time low as it was (to me anyway). I was too apathetic to feel any worse. I will cheer Fulmer during the UK game just as I will do my best to be at the O&W game in the spring to welcome in the new era (whoever the coach).

There needs to be a poster on the jumbotron that says "Good bye Phil, thanks for proving all of us right on on Nov 8 2008".

Fulmer should not let there be a Phil Fulmer Day. At the end of the Kentucky game ( a loss most likely) he should go walk out of Neyland and go away.

The fact that there is a Phil Fulmer day is an insult to anyone who has followed this program since 2002-2003. We've been lucky to have players that were able to cover up for his horrible management and coaching and make us look somewhat talented.

The wheels have come off the Fulmer bus and he's exposed as the joke that he is. Thanks for 1998, but the moron should have been sent packing years ago.

He can cry those giant crocodile tears all he wants after the Kentucky game, but he did this to himself. He refused to adapt and to change with the game - his success ruined him. Phil Fulmer day should be a celebration day for the program and he should be booed out of that stadium.

Mike H. only mistake was that he was too optomistic that we would win out...people would cheer phil out the door and optimism would reign as we usher in a new voice to keep the orange ball a rollin..........we are worse than we can even think we are..I still believe we need to hire Moses we are that far away. But remember it is always darker before the dawn...that or it just keeps getting darker :confused:

It would have been good riddance had Phil been fired years ago. It is now way past good riddance.

Saturdays performance was why when you fire someone, they go directly to clean out their desk and out the door.
