Phil, Don't Fulmer It

How about getting some testicles and doing what's needed for the Lady Basketball program--Fire Holly! Everyone knows what to do except him, apparently.

Im a big Fulmer fan and if he doesn't have the stones to fire Holly then we have the wrong AD. Ill still honor and respect him for what he did as a coach...but the lack of guts as to Holly shows he isn't the right choice for AD. Sure..its uncomfortable to fire her. Its not pleasant to do...but its part of the job to handle these unpleasant tasks. Or go analyze on one of those pregame shows...where u can avoid the tough part of being an AD. The easy path is keeping her and pretending she's the right choice going forward. He knows she is not.

As long as Phil doesn't plan another meeting at Shoney's, and brings his idiot lawyer to make sure it is proper while he personally investigates sexual assaults? He can interject and add his opinion just the same as any other VFL might.

Otherwise, he needs to let Pruitt be the HC. Or Phil will be searching for another one sooner than he wants.

Love ya, Phil, but Fulmer don’t do it.
Stay out of the way of Coach Pruitt.
Don’t give in to some overt or covert mob.
Please stay out and let the man do his job.

Don’t stand behind him whispering, looking over his shoulder.
You’ll just make him have doubts and second thoughts of being bolder;
In his game planning, adjustments, and playcalling on the field.
Becoming timid for fear of being perceived as a heel.

So I plead with you in desperation and even tears;
Let Jeremy Pruitt simply be who and what he is.
The SECCountry talking of Pruitt leaning on you.
Gene Stalling Tide talk is the opposite of what you should do.

In the words of an old Florida ball coach;
Who too often made our dear Vols yell “Ouch!”
When you got two quarterbacks, you got no quarterback.
Having two head coaches leads to the same type of lack.

–WoodsmanVol--

Have you written the banjo and fiddle part? A couple of local bluegrass musicians might be interested.

You know, I'm neither a Holly fan nor a Holly hater. I'm glad her teams win, not as much as I'd like them to but they win. Prior to the condition that overwhelmed her, our dear and departed Pat Summit's teams weren't winning as they usually did. And no Holly's don't always put down teams UT used to in the past. Other schools now out-recruit us or at the very least match us. Schools have coaches at and even above our dear Summit's coaching competency. UConn is the new super team and it appears ND is now close behind or pulling even. I guarantee you that you and others would be among the first to light the fuse to blow up a new coach who didn't magically bring us back to old UT dominance. Even if they consistently got us to the elite eight. All for the same reasons I've cited here. The world has changed. Yes, we should seek to change with it and reestablish ourselves as the beast of the east, west, south, and north. But it's no longer cakewalk to do that.

How about discussing this in the Lady Vols forum where Holly's home repair person, yard maintenance person, and motorcycle mechanic can respond to it? Or are you scared of them? If so, I get it. Those gals are a force to be reckoned with.

It's a very real controversy that already exists, even if most UT fans are willing to overlook it. Phil is meddling in Pruitt's business right now. If this continues, it will be to the detriment of the football program. Whether or not Pruitt is the right man for the job, whether or not he's ready to be thrown into the fire, he has to be allowed to run his own program. Anything else is a recipe for disaster.

I hate to say it, but we're flirting with that disaster right now.

Man, Fulmer is gonna do what Fulmer is gonna do. And his little minions are wallowing in it like pigs in s**t. Meanwhile, guys like you and me are sitting back with real concerns for that.

But I look at it like this. First of all, if the fine folks who brought us Jones, Dooley, and Kiffin had brought us Petersen, Patterson, or some other competent coach? Phil would still be addressing his boys at luncheons and no part of this program other than history. But no, they kept doing a FUBAR to the program, and gave Phil friends plenty of ammo to seize control. Hell, they almost made it easy.

Take comfort in this; MAYBE Fulmer will get it right. But if he doesn't, it really can't get much worse than it did before. And at least we won't have to read anymore, "What if Phil got brought back" threads? Those should die right along with Grumors. At least we should have that. Now, if we could just find a cure for D4H....

D4H doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I enjoy him being around.

Bammers are red
Volfans are orange
Can't think of a thing
That rhymes with orange.

Expunge (as pronounced by some)
Grunge (as pronounced by some)
Lozenge
Sponge (as pronounced by some ethnic groups)
Sporange

BUT far as I'm concerned the only real rhyme to "orange" is Vols. And I ain't taking no criticism, advice, or prisoners.

I understand. You're not crazy about having Fulmer back in the fold but neither are you crazy about the last 10 years or so. It's a dilemma.....

The last 10 years was actually caused by Fulmer. He is the one that let the program get fat on his watch.

Heaven forbid Pruitt to seek the counsel of a Hall of Fame coach or Phil to offer guidance. I think both of them "got this".

QB play is critical to the success of a football team.

Seems that Coach Fulmer had a guy lined up for 2009.

Has AD Fulmer done anything yet that would get in the way of what CJP is wanting to do?

I like door-hinge, as suggested by Arlo Guthrie many years ago, but I wasn't going all out for a rhyme at the time.

Fulmer got fat and lazy and was lost w o Cutcliffe. Look at his record vs fl and ga in his last years. When brilliant coaches showed up, he got pounded. He never adapted to the game and got dominated
