Phil, Don't Fulmer It

It's a very real controversy that already exists, even if most UT fans are willing to overlook it. Phil is meddling in Pruitt's business right now. If this continues, it will be to the detriment of the football program. Whether or not Pruitt is the right man for the job, whether or not he's ready to be thrown into the fire, he has to be allowed to run his own program. Anything else is a recipe for disaster.

I hate to say it, but we're flirting with that disaster right now.

And you proof is . . . . hello . . . . Bueller . . . Bueller . . . . :zeitung_lesen:

Yes Phil, please keep your opinions about football to yourself, you obviously know nothing. Just let our 6th choice coordinator who’s never been a head coach before do the job he’s never done before. He obviously doesn’t need you. Smh

Another Filmer Fan I take it.........

It wasn't the Present Coaches Fault he was the 6th choice......

Philly needs to stay in the Sky Box, entertain, raise money and say Dad Gum a lot.......

I don’t think Fulmer is doing anything that he knows not to do. This comment or article is so stupid, and it shows. Yes, I think Phil has been out there with them a couple of times, but not in the way. For he has said, I’m going to let him do the work, but if he needs me, then he knows where to find me. His office is right down the hall from Pruitt’s. I’m sure they talk every other day about football, and the help he needs. I even bet Fulmer gives him what he needs. There is no doubt about it, because they do work together. This is ridiculous.:thud::blink:

Pruitt doesn't need someone to deliver Krispy Kremes to him.

Please provide examples to justify your comments as I haven't seen anything yet that would alarm me. Granted, I haven't been paying close attention lately but certainly nothing has caught my attention.

My post exactly. I've seen or heard nothing.

Why do people think Fulmer's level of engagement would be higher than it was during his last "victory lap" seasons that started the downhill snowball leading the program to its current condition? That was more than ten long years ago.

Pretty sure Dooley and Butch got us where we are now. Correct me if I'm wrong.

How about getting some testicles and doing what's needed for the Lady Basketball program--Fire Holly! Everyone knows what to do except him, apparently.

No, everyone does not. Some, but not all. She'll be getting a 2-3 year extension.

Please provide the proof that Fulmer is not allowing Pruitt to run his own program.

I believe the verb “to fulmer” has 3 definitions, right?

1. To win 75% of one’s games.

2. To win multiple championships, SEC and National.

3. To kick Alabama’s azz.

And to drive the UT football program into a ditch. We're still recovering by the way, maybe you haven't heard that?

We're still recovering from bad choices at UT. They allowed this to continue to the point that it is now. They have picked 3 poor choices to date after the firing.

Love ya, Phil, but Fulmer don’t do it.
Stay out of the way of Coach Pruitt.
Don’t give in to some overt or covert mob.
Please stay out and let the man do his job.

Don’t stand behind him whispering, looking over his shoulder.
You’ll just make him have doubts and second thoughts of being bolder;
In his game planning, adjustments, and playcalling on the field.
Becoming timid for fear of being perceived as a heel.

So I plead with you in desperation and even tears;
Let Jeremy Pruitt simply be who and what he is.
The SECCountry talking of Pruitt leaning on you.
Gene Stalling Tide talk is the opposite of what you should do.

In the words of an old Florida ball coach;
Who too often made our dear Vols yell “Ouch!”
When you got two quarterbacks, you got no quarterback.
Having two head coaches leads to the same type of lack.

–WoodsmanVol--

He won a natty? I hope he does a little.

Yes, bad choices are where this problem began. :good!:

Just let our 6th choice...

"We" didn't want the first choice, and I'm pretty sure Pruitt was not Phil's 6th choice.

You'd been better off just leaving that out. Maybe just 1 like better, but better.

Feels like 2005 around here.

Expectations are sky high and the team is likely to end up with a sub .500 record.

Glad to have ya back Phil.

Phil IS the BOSS. As has been stated many times "this is Pruitt's first shot at being a head coach at a big time program.
If Phil is hanging around like a nervous parent you can't blame him. They are BOTH in untraveled territory. Both guys are smart or they wouldn't be where they are. They will work it out.

hm. that's bait.

Take it for what you will but I think the defensive switch and lack of a set O line alone are plenty of reason to be apprehensive this season.

Throw in an iffy QB situation and lack of depth across the board and things could well go sideways this season no matter how many aights Pruitt throws at it.

ah, well some of that i agree with.

but none of that is what you posted.

expectations are not sky high, and nor are we coming off an sec title game appearance, as we were in 2005.

we didn't have a brand new staff coming in to 2005.

we aren't pre season top 5 headed in to 2018.

this season couldn't be more different than what was expected in 2005.
