PG Marquis Clark

I haven't been able to find current season stats for Clark but at the Gonzaga DC Classic earlier this month, he racked up 86 points in just 3 games. His shooting stats in 2 of those games: 21 of 39 from the field (3-5 on threes), 13 of 14 FTs.

Enroll him ASAP and get him used to playing defense.

I have a feeling it is going to be more than that. Kid can play.
Hope so! I’m not someone who watches a second of high school film, usually just a few minutes of highlights when someone commits. So I can’t ever really predict things

I don’t watch much film either. I have watched a little of his. He has some serious skills. Needs to work on his three point shot a little. That is fixable. My only concern is can he take Barnes riding his ass. Barnes is hard on point guards.

He committed really early. Hopefully that means he’s got a good relationship started with Barnes and the staff

I see this talked about, and when I watch him play, I come away thinking similarly. But then I see his stats from EYBL last summer and his stats from this senior high school season, and he's a 40%+ shooter from 3. What I've seen is a slow release, very little lift with his legs, and he leaves a lot of balls short on his jumper.

Young man is more athletic and bigger than I thought after watching some highlights. Barnes will work on his shooting form/mechanics for sure. Tough player, I bet he gets healthy minutes off the bench. Would be nice having multiple ball handlers in the game. Chandler and Zeigler were a fun tandem on the court at the same time.

Not that rankings matter but here's a good reference point for people. Based on this, "maybe" Ralph Scott is the only one that can snag time. The point guards in Barnes system takes time to develop. My feeling is we will always take a freshman PG, a portal PG from now on and roll the dice.

What an odd thing to say. Clark Green and Scott are all ranked ahead of where Troy was (he averaged 7.5 min per game) and both Green and Scott are ranked ahead of where Dewayne was (and he avg 15 min per game). So “maybe” all three of Ralph Scott, Manny Green and Marquis Scott will get minutes based on rankings

Also the only pg on the list who didn’t see time as a freshman was bj Edwards and he wasn’t really a pg and ended up transferring. Chandler, Ziegler, and Henderson all got minutes year 1.

We'll need at least one big time transfer next year. We have some options at point with Boswell, Troy, Burg, and Clark. I think Boswell is capable of being our starting PG. Evans feels like he'll slot right in at SG. JP will be the center. You could start either Cade or Brown at PF, but I'd prefer someone that might stretch the court at least a little bit. There's no obvious answer at SF, which i think is where the portal comes in play. You could also get a point guard and slide Boswell and Evans up a spot. It feels like we need two major transfers barring any departures.

Barnes has done well in the portal so if that trend continues we should be well set for next year

Most HS kids will need shot adjustments whether it’s release or speeding up the gather to shoot. Everybody on the floor in D1 is taller and more athletic. Can the player see the floor, is he quick, can he pass and handle the ball. What type of feel for the game flow does he have. Physically how is he built.
For just one example, local kid hit 14 3s a few games ago. He wouldnt get a shot off in D1 unless left alone. Look at Eli Ellis putting up 50 in HS and AAU. He couldn’t get a decent shot off against UT.

In college, the lack of legs will get you for sure as bigger bodies will wear him down. But, the coaches will certainly work on that. Sounds like a very promising young man!
