PFF player grades

We are getting closer to those guys but we can’t skip over steps. We aren’t on their level yet until we win 90% against the rest which we haven’t done yet.

I’d be absolutely jumping for joy to go 7-3 and lose to all 3 of those teams this year
If we do lose to them this year, I want us at minimum to be competitive in the games. We will not be unless JG steps up his game and stops over-throwing receivers.

So...... Latrell Bumpus played both ways? And Warren Burrell played?

Looks like they need to work on roster and numbers first maybe, before grading.

Pruitt had a funny response to that lol
What was it, I missed it? I think Pruitt is going to the Phillip Fulmer school of handling the media. Fulmer started out awful but caught on pretty quickly and I think coach Pruitt is on the same path. I wish he'd bring back "aight" though as it would be a Tennessee marketing dream catchphrase.

Who sets the grades on this? Not reliable if JG is listed as above average with the number of misfires he had in the game. I believe the Qb grade in the other thread as below average is a better representation of JG’s performance.
There are higher ups that go through and basically give grade adjustments on every single play.

Burrell is indeed on UT's official participation report.

Bumphus played at fullback 2 plays. Obviously a bunch on defense.

Appreciate the effort people are doing on this. Sounds like a time consuming labor of love. One point I would like to ask is the numerous inaccurate throws made by JG. So if on 10 pass attempts he completes 6 routine attempts and misses in 4 routine attempts. He gets a grade of 60 in your system ? If he completes a pass to a receiver but the receiver has to break stride or even turn around to catch the ball and thus loses possible significant yards after the catch in the process, how would this be graded ? Does a misfire on an easy 3rd down conversion get additional negative value because it stopped a drive and potential points? Just a few questions, there may be more.
Not exactly labor of love. Work with every NFL franchise as well as many college programs. Networks use the grades on air as well. Lots of money being made by Collinsworth and co.

There are flaws in the grading system IMO. JG , Tyler Baron and Holiday are three which are easy to pick out.
I don't see OP posting a grade for Holiday. JG's grade looks spot on jmo.

Baron was dinged mostly for having 2 missed tackles on 23 snaps. You can't miss a tackle on 10% of your snaps. If not for those, yeah he has a solid grade for sure. But you have to count the bad too.

I remember he was involved on a couple of plays behind the LOS and slowed down one carrier but missed the tackle. He should not be penalized especially since it was a win for the defense overall.

Sorry, I got you confused with someone else. /after a discussion with Freak I put the grades in a spread sheet, that way we can see progression/regression, consistent/inconsistent play, does a player show against good teams or just mediocre teams.

If you don't mind posting the grades (for MZ) like this, I will add them to a spreadsheet and we can see what's going on as the year progresses. Freak will add the spreadsheet and everyone can see, It was very popular on my previous site (Volquest). PFF is an unbiased grading service for both NFL and college even I disagree with some of their grades but I don't lose any sleep over it. Thanks for sharing.

Those posted last week were from Rob Lewis. I posted them for simplicity but the numbers were different. Here are the actual screen caps from PFF.

I don’t see why Wanya Morris is so low against Mizzou. He had an incredible game. He opened up the Grey TD with a great pulling concept to the right. It seemed like every time I watched him, he was blocking great.

I thought the OL rating was a little low considering we went from 4.03 ypc vs. USCe and nearly 5.5 ypc vs. MZ. PFF has several hundred people that do grading. PFF has a lower grader, then they have a high grader review the grades. Some grades will be puzzling, and some won't. Some player will grade out higher than you think, while other will not. Don't let it bother you. They are unbiased in their grading.

I really appreciate Vol Outlaw for providing the information.
