Anybody who watched Tennessee’s 13 games last year saw how explosive and elusive running back Alvin Kamara could be.

The junior college transfer and former Alabama back was a huge weapon for the Vols, piling up 1,098 all-purpose yards and averaging 7.3 yards every time he touched the football via rush, reception or punt return.

Pro Football Focus has put a number on just how tough to tackle Kamara is – giving him an Elusive Rating of 109.2, good for fourth in the nation among all running backs in the nation in 2015 (and ahead of LSU running back Leonard Fournette).

He certainly does have great elusiveness and acceleration. NFL teams will love his pass catching ability. I did see him get caught from behind a couple of times last year by some of the faster corners/safeties. I think that Alvin is a burner within 40 yards or so though.

He is extremely quick. It's like in 2 steps he can attain top speed. Just like you said, his top speed is a little less than some DBs. It's like he needs to shift up one more gear. This kid has "football speed" and I love it.

Agree with that. He would be the definition of "football speed".

Last year you could see him let up a bit when a TD looked to be a certain thing.

I would think that comes from it really being his first year on the field with people as talented and fast as he is, in an actual game setting.

I'd expect to see that improved a little this season.

He is certainly fun to watch. I wouldn't trade Hurd & Kamara for any other combo in the country.

And don't forget -- this young man to-date seems to have become = a good model citizen while at Tennessee (yeah, even the NFL wants good model citizens / seems in the overall picture, Coach Butch Jones can help players achieve this goal).

AK's 1st step quickness is off the charts and he has really good vision to boot. His top speed isnt the best but he's still pretty fast then too.

I like to watch DE's try to make the decision if Dobbs is keeping or if AK is getting the hand off, when they see AK got it he is already past them and making the edge. He will get the ball a lot of diff ways this year and he should. He's a big play waiting to happen.

I hope to see him with the ball in his hands more this year, whether it be in the air game or out of the back field. He's fun to watch, rarely(seems like) he goes down in the first hit and he's slicker than owl poo.

So Alvin is kind of like Gatlin and the safeties who caught him like Bolt
