Peyton's Legacy

I don't think Peyton is the choir boy that our fanbase makes him out to be. Lots of skeletons in that closet if I had to guess.

That whole sexual assault thing he was involved in turned me off of him a long time ago. People that are mad about Schiano's time at PSU but who love Peyton don't make any sense to me.

Don't want him anywhere near the hiring process. He gave a huge endorsement and recommendation for Butch Jones.

That should tell you all you need to know about his HR skills

Post hire or pre hire? We all bought off on Butch the first couple of years.

This is ridiculous. Peyton could get away with murder as far as Volnation is concerned. And I STRONGLY doubt that he would do anything without having the best interest of the program in mind. If he doesn't think Tee is ready, he's not alone.

It’s the Haslams. Thornton and Ergen are on the Tee Martin to UT side. Haslam thinks we should exhaust all his picks and use Tee as a fallback option, which is disrespectful.

Any woman in a man's locker room get's what she deserves. Hell if a man was in a woman's locker room he would be arrested.:hi:

Has this coaching search changed your view of Peyton Manning? First he approves the hire of Schiano then he is shooting down making any contact with Tee Martin.

IMO he is ruining his legacy the longer this goes on.
Ohhh meeeeeeeee! I’m all in for Peyton!:thud:

I just posted this in another thread, but it probably works better in this one anyway:

Peyton Manning is a man, not a god. People tend to assume he couldn't possibly disagree with them on anything or do anything wrong, because he's Peyton Manning, but that's obviously not the case. I don't know what his involvement has been in any of this, and I'm sure he's a good guy, but people would do well to remember this.

And the people assuming that he couldn't possibly have approved of Schiano, either tacitly or directly, because Schiano once pissed him off by trying to swipe the ball during a kneel-down play in an NFL game, are ridiculous. One incident does not mean that you disavow the guy years later over that one unimportant incident. If he was against the Schiano hire, I'm sure it's for the same reasons that everybody else was, not because he got pissed off at Schiano at a football game once.

Or maybe, he just got over ruled, or didn't wnt to be the bad guy

At this point : Hearsay.
When talking about Peyton - back it up with sources and links.

Page 2 of Brice's recent article. You can look for him backing Schiano. Pretty sure him and Hyams both reported it. You can look for yourself.

"but that not all members of the Vols’ search committee, including Manning, are ready to pursue Martin."

I have always liked Peyton but I think he is too cozy and tied in with the Haslam cabal. Like out politicians, he does the bidding of those at the top. A company man, if you will.

I came to Volnation to read and listen, but I hope that this is a drunken mistake.
Please take this down. For your own reputation if for nothing else.

He also, with Haslam, wanted Currie over Blackburn or Fulmer.

If he's going to stick his hands in the dirt then just go ahead and coach UT.

This thread is the reason PM has waaaay too many brains to every coach here. Knee jerks are a way of life for some.

It's upsetting.. but remember.. there are well established boot lickers on this board that were FOR SCHIANO.. until it was obvious the tide had turned against him.. the same that posted gloom-n-doom after he was rejected.

So now ppl are finger pointing at Manning? Give me a break! Blame Currie and HOH for this mess. Peyton just talked up UT to Gundy. If anything he's on our side trying to fix this mess Currie started with Schiano. No reports out there or any proof Peyton signed off on GS.

Peyton's Legacy.
Great QB.... Great Peddler.... Great Spokesman....
Definitely NOT squeaky clean on several fronts...but mostly College stuff that he stayed to participate in his Sr. Year.
The Book of Peyton is still being written.
