in the eyes of some....that's exactly what would happen.
here's one for you...the stats below are of a qb...all time playoff records, including sb appearances:
ALL TIME 3rd highest Passer rating at 95.0 behind Bart Star and Joe Montana.......
ALL TIME higest yard per completion.......8.8
All TIME LONGEST PASS completion for TD......85 yards
Tied for all time most road wins in the playoffs.....with Roger Staubach and Len Dawson
2nd all time highest passer rating in a SB for qb starting his 1st SB at 113.6
Played in arguably the best Super Bowl ever played.
do you know who this guy is?
Jake Delhomme.
NO one ever remembers the loser of the spuer bowl, no matter how well you play in it, or, in most cases, how well you played on your way to it.
I remember SB 38. Panthers vs Patriots. Panthers were winning, BUT the Pats got the ball in the last 2 minutes of the game and they won by a field goal. The Pats have always been lucky. That game should have been won by the Panthers; I remember all those calls favoring the Pats. Same thing happened when they played the Eagles next season in SB 39. They won by a field goal in the last 2 minutes.
Jake Delhomme did good, but he can't be consistent, that's why little attention is/was paid towards him. Because McNair, McNabb, Marino, and other were "losers" but people do remember them very well. If the Panthers have done better after SB 38, I'm sure Delhomme would have a better reputation; but that team has been going downwards.
