Peyton to Co-purchase Titans in 2015?

Nashville is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country and projected to double in size by 2035.

The stadium has always done extremely well with tickets sales and it is in a Prime location--especially as the down town area around 2nd street continues to get upgrades.

I could easily see it going for 1.5 based on projections.

There is also no football team in in Bowling Green which is metro pop of 500,000 and growing and we are as close to Huntsville AL (another growing area) as they are to Atlanta.

The stadium (while not the biggest and baddest) is no worse than many other current stadiums such as the Bengals.

It is honestly not a bad long term decision as long as football is not disbanded in the next few decades due to being to violent on players bodies etc.

BG metro area is bout 150k, depending on how far you go out. To get to 500k you'd have to go out 70 miles or more. But most folks in the BG area follow the Titans as do those in north AL as you said. Lot of seaon ticket holders in both areas.

but he's got arm issues and he isn't going to play five more years. Is he still effective? Yes, but he's been less effective in recent games--passing TDs down, INTs, up. Broncos have been running the ball lots more, which is a good thing for the team and for PM, really.
Are you serious dude? They've played 4 games with an emphasis on the run to get ready for the playoffs, Peyton isn't "less effective". Their game plan is by design, Peyton isn't losing his edge at all. Like a previous poster said, he's going to throw for 40tds this year. Not sure what else you can ask for.

So? What does that matter?

You're buying something much bigger than TV ratings.

And, for reference:

NFL teams divided $6 billion in revenue, according to Green Bay Packers financials - ESPN

Yeah, but if you wanna be really rich and really successful, you need a big TV market team. To wit: The Yankees and the YES network. Steinbrenner was able to take the revenue from that and pay all the big bucks he has been able to pay so far... and even pay the fines for going over the salary caps... he don't care because he is swimming in money. Well his family anyway, cause he's dead... but you get the idea.

TV revenue is a HUGE cash cow. Texas football network... SEC network... ESPN contracts... big big big money

Haha. No way the Titans go for that amount

It would be close, at the very least to the low end of that range. The franchise is worth $1.2 billion according to Forbes (as of 2014), and no one gets to buy any of these franchises for less than their worth.

The last team to be purchased - the Bills, this last September - were valued by Forbes at about $935 million and were purchased for $1.4 billion.

The last purchase before that - the Browns, in 2012 - were purchased for $1.05 billion, and were felt to have a net worth (in 2012) of around $977 million

The Titans are dead last in NFL TV ratings.

They're averaging about a 21 rating this season; the NFL and others won't release the full numbers or a rankings until 2014 is over.

I think what you're thinking of (from a previous thread on the board) was a Harris Poll where they asked 1270 people "What are your two favorite NFL teams?," and the Titans and Jaguars were the least commonly given overall.

You mean the Bowling Green / Glasgow area with a combined metro area of 215k does not have professional team? That is unheard of and frankly it is a shame. I don't understand why Chattanooga does not have one either.

Sarcasm- Sheldon Cooper

There are a lot of dumb people on here.

It has a metro pop of over 400K now and is a 90 minute drive to Nashville. It is another growing demographic that has the Titans as their closest team.

Sheesh.

Learn to read.

You are correct.

It's not 500K though, it's 400K.

I ran a survey real quick on 50 miles around the area and came up with just shy of 400K.
