Peyton not going to bat for Tee????

What are you talking about? Tee was not offered a position in Knoxville a mere few years ago?
Did he not travel to Knoxville with the entourage to interview only to head back to USC with a raise?

not for oc. they offered him the WR coach position. he wanted the OC job.

do you still believe any of those guys would even consider coming here? seriously.

Seriously?
I think we can easily get Norvell

The Patterson and Petterson, possible with tons of cash.

T, we can land also.

Don't want Brohm don't want NC state dud.

And enough about Kiffin. Been there done that burned the couch.

You are correct, my bad.
Well he's currently and OC

Wasn't he interviewing last week for an HC at Ga Southern, maybe? What happened there?

wild guess here but its likely hes not willing to go to bat who is a career position coach, first year coordinator and is not being considered in a long shot for any p5 program

Not oc. It was a lowball wr coach offer to shut up the fans.

while I agree, Peyton did sign off on Schiano which is equally if not more stupid

His signature was not on the MOU. Seriously, I don't think you know what Peyton did or did not do, so why are you pretending as if you do? Oh yeah, somebody said. lol

patterson just signed an extension with tcu...last week. he's not leaving.

Peterson, i'm pretty sure we floated about $6m to him lats week, he balked. and after yesterday and sunday....he's not leaving seattle for this job.

if we didn't learn but one thing yesterday...money is not the game changer it was 10 years ago.

hell Matt Cambell just signed an extension at ISU. and he was going to get, if not already gotten, major money to leave Aimes.

Norvell is going to have options...either stay at Memphis and get a raise/extension, or go to Arkansas....gimmie a reason he'd lay those three out on the table and pick TN from that group right now?

it's like the events of the past week just haven't happened or something, or we simply don't think it's had an impact on how this job is viewed right now.

there are 4 people that want this job, right now...

Miles
kiffin--and this isn't going to happen.
dorien
martin

and none of them have been contacted.

it's time to adjust your expectation on who we can get...and really...who we will get.

Yes it was a show on both sides. He was interviewed because the fans demanded it even though he never planned to take the job.

How can Peyton not go to bat for Tee when so many other VFL players are doing so?

Guys,
After today's Gundy debacle, for the second time, truly saddens me.

I would have got the deal done with Tee and re-united the fan base unless Gundy was already a done deal.

I truly don't understand why Peyton still refuses to go to bat for Tee on the search committee.

Tee has been true champion in everything that he's done.

Clemson's HC coach was a coordinator and so was Fulmer.

Somebody else is going to give Tee a shot and we're already at the bottom of the SEC.

I'd he honored to bring Tee home as the Vols next head coach.

Does Peyton have bad blood towards Tee??? and Peyton helped bring Butch into the fold.

because Tee got a NC and Peyton didnt?

did or did he not start calling others saying that they were bringing him in?

No and no

Miles had Chavis. His D did everything. Worst offense in the SEC for years. QB development is laughable.

Also, he got lucky on some crazy risk calls that will no doubt bite us in the azz if he does that here!

Also, LSU's talent is unreal and they are loyal maybe like no other state. He had a leg up there, won't be the same here. DOn't want him.

Kiffin, I don't care if he can coach. To bring him on board if way more crazy than asking for Gruden.

Good then, enjoy you some Chad Morris or some other unproven coach that Haslam and Currie dig up.

The bottom of the SEC???

Bottom or top of the SEC T Martin doesnt deserve this job much less being the coach of Vandy yet. Let him go to GA Southern, or some other small school like Scott Frost and learn how to be a HBC. Build a team, manage a game with adversity all the things that make good coaches. Then if in a few years we need a new coach and he has done well dine bring him home. But, to bring him just because we want a TN man leading our program is asinine. If thats the case i was born and raised in TN can i coach them. I have some exp. I led the 6-7 yr old broncos flag fb team to an undefeated season. Im a TN vol thru and thru. Ok now we know that is a joke im not qualified and neither is he yet.

Look at this very thread for the answer. Half the board is ready to turn on Peyton Manning because of some random tweet that there might be something friction between him and Tee. Nothing to back this up, but whatever. What are these same fans going to do the first time Tee makes a bad call or two that costs us the Florida game?

I would be thrilled to have Tee come home, but it's not going to happen in the immediate future. There's no need to argue this he said/she said bs. Vol Nation is hurting. Everyone is laughing at us. We need to stick together and see this through. Let's focus our anger and frustration elsewhere.

Exactly - not sure why folks are trying to make this a Manning verses Martin war either.

As much as I would love to have a Tennessee man in the position, I personally don't feel Tee is ready for the job. I would hate to see him come home not be ready and then run out of town in disgrace.

Maybe Peyton doesn't think Tee is ready for the SEC to match wits with Saban just yet. I think down the road, Tee is someone who needs to be on our radar but right now he is too green.

The SEC is a meat grinder when it comes to coaches. If he is a last resort then fine, But it would be better if he waited and came in with some more experience and could stay for 15-20 years and build a legacy as a great player and coach.

Because Peyton would get an interview and be hired with no coaching experience at any level.

Tee has coaching experience, for a strong Power 5 program as an OC, and Currie won't even go talk to the guy.

That's a problem. Might not be Manning's fault, but it is yet another problem with our program right now.

What has Tee done that makes him deserving of being our next HC? He's been an OC for 2 years and only been a college assistant since '09. Not exactly been doing it very long. Nothing says he's even close to ready and Peyton sees that.

And he's not even a good OC. The offense has been very inconsistent with a top 2 QB in the NFL draft and even Darnold has called out Tee's playcalling. He's not very well liked in Cali either. Do your research before just saying something you have no clue about. No other university is knocking down his door either. Should tell you something.

Tee's offense is 19-3 with Darnold in the lineup.... Horrible.

Love Tee Martin. He brought us a championship, probably the only one I will see in my lifetime. But he is not ready for this dumpster fire! We would be setting him up to fail before he even gets a good start on his career! Why would anyone want to do that to him? The program is just not in a place where he could be successful. It's not just rebuilding it's recreating a program. We need someone that has been at the top and understands how the whole picture works. It's just not the right time for Tee.

I love Tee. What you said makes a lot of sense though. I think, it'd be really bad for all if Tee got in over his head, and had a season like Butch just had. It'd hurt to have to make a change, and of course Haynesworth and others would make it about something it's not. Reality is, at a price of millions per year, there shouldn't be wiggle room for "on the job training". If a guy ain't cutting it, get rid of him. Harder to do for a VFL, however its been done in the past. It was ugly for Fulmer and Majors when it happened and it'd be ugly for Tee.
I sure hope this coaching search doesn't alienate him. Would hate to lose any love and affection he has for Tennessee. He will always have my respect for his contribution as a VOL. Timing isn't good for him, that's all.

John Brice who is very smart said that Manning was not ready to pursue the Tee Martin route. Not saying there is a feud but there is no reason why Peyton should have a voice in the next hire after his bang up job with Butch, Schiano, and Gundy.
