Peyton not going to bat for Tee????

Just because he wants the job does not mean he should get the offer. I know he was a great player but he should not do his on the job training here. Coach at a smaller school first and maybe when he is ready, this job would chew him up, if you truley want him to be successful then dont rush it.

So wait until he's like 60....Will he be ready then? Give the man an opportunity to fail. Don't act like you're doing him a favor by holding him back.

Peyton knows more about football than all of us combined. If he thinks the fit is bad, the fit is bad.

Peyton is human and a petty person. Jordan is the best basketball player of all time, but he is horrible evaluator of talent. Same can be said for Peyton.

I've read several reports that Peyton is the reason Tee Martin isn't being contacted.

If so, Peyton needs to pony up and learn to coach. I am starting to think he is more loyal to the Haslams to the Vols, it makes me very sad, but it's true.

Peyton is looking out for himself. Kissing Haslam’s ring so he can get the Cleveland GM job., IMO

Based on what evidence? I’m not super “Pro Tee,” but I’d like to know why he’s not on this level.

Tee is only 39 years old. He needs seasoning at a non power 5 program before becoming a head coach at a power 5 program. TN is to unstable a program to have a baby coach come in and try to correct this ship. The down side far outweighs the upside. It would not be good for Tee either. Given the context of UT's program, the odds are strongly against him and it would set his career back 4-6 years as well. TN is not in a position to take this big of a risk right nowl

I’d like the idea of hiring Tee as HC if we had an AD that bled orange but the way things are currently, he’d get chewed up and pissed on like the previous hires

Five years from now, we will regret not hiring him.

Tee is getting mild consideration from D2 schools. And we want his first head coaching job to be here. At his alma mater. With top level expectations.

If y'all really liked Tee, and appreciated what he did for us in '98, you wouldn't want to hire him for a job he isn't capable of doing, and inevitably firing him in 3 years.

"Vols fire their own championship winning QB"

Looks great. Can't wait.

Anyone who thinks we can do better than Tee Martin, needs their brain examined.

John Currie has done significant damage to the University of Tennessee and should be fired immediately. No qualified coach will take the job after what happened Sunday. We would be lucky to have Tee at this point.

I've been doing some thinking this morning and I think it's obvious why Peyton wouldn't want Tee here. First off, I love Peyton like every other Vol I'm here, but let's be honest here, you don't become rich and powerful without a little bit of narcissism. Tee did things In 1 year that Peyton never did in 4. He got us a natty, he beat Florida, and he won us a conference title his first year not his last. So if he came in here and had even the littlest of success coaching, he'd beat Peyton in that regard too. Thus, Peyton's popularity stock among Vol fans would take a little hit and he'd have to share some of that spotlight and power with Tee, something no one ever wants to do when they're at the top. I love Peyton Manning, but I think we're seeing some of his true colors come out during this search.

Because Tee ain't on this level. Get over it

Was Kirby Smart on “this level”? Lincoln Riley? James Franklin? Phil Fulmer? Bob Stoops? Dabo Swinney?

He coordinates one of the top P5 offenses in the country at Southern Cal and is a finalist for the top assistant coach in the country after being the #1 recruiter in the country a year or two ago. Did any of those others have those credentials?

Why exactly is he “not on this level” when he’s had great OC success at a helluva lot better P5 program than Tennessee is? Please explain.

For all against Tee. How would you compare him to Lincoln Riley? How’s he doing at OU? Riley was OC at a P5 school for 1 (close to 2) season before being named the head coach at Oklahoma.

Id love to have Tee as head coach --- when he's ready. Watch a few of his recent interviews after games and you'll see he's not ready.

Tee is NOT ready for this job and Peyton, IMO, will do what Haslam wants..

Sad state of affairs in Knoxville and it doesn't appear that it will change anytime soon..

Maybe the Federal government will do us all a favor and put Haslam in prison or at the very least rough him up bad enough to where the school is forced to disassociate with him..

We can only hope.....
