Peyton Manning...

For anyone who cannot stomach anymore unjustified Peyton abuse, I discourage you from reading Bill Simmons latest entry on ESPN. But I do request that someone explain to me what the Boston homer brings to the table for ESPN to have him on the payroll.

Seriously, why is there an intense hatred for Manning. What did he do to deserve it?

nothing, but apparently just as many - or maybe more - click on critical stories of his mistakes (compared to him doing well stories)

really? The wholesome and pure schoolboy thing is offputting when slammed in your face every Saturday in 3 hour helpings.

Exactly. I respect both men for their on the field accomplishments, but there's a point where I can't take it anymore.

I get the comparison, I just fail to see what Peyton has done to justify it.

It's not Peyton or Tim's fault. It's the media who force feeds it down your throat every 5 seconds that causes me and many others to puke everytime they're mentioned.

Yes, definitely. And the media loves to tear him down, which adds to my frustration.

I enjoy bashing Tim Tebow because he is the qb for the Gators. Personal life has nothing to do with it.

The column didn't seem all that bad. Simmons said as recently as his column last Friday that he fully expected Manning to come through. Why do all Manning apologists act like any criticism of Manning, however justified it may be, is some sort of heinous attack? You have to admit the guy who emailed in about fully expecting the Colts to trying to ban onside kicks at the next competition comittee meeting was pretty funny.

Did you like Indianapolis before Manning was there? Do you like the Pacers?

I started watching the NFL in 97/98 when I was 8 years old. I didn't know the game and it was my first time to actually pick a team. Having never followed entire seasons and only seeing the Vols play I picked the Colts, and have followed them since. I do like Peyton, but I would still be a Colts fan if he got traded. I don't follow the NBA so no I don't like the Pacers.

It doesn't really matter what anyone thinks of Peyton. He will be a Hall of Famer, go down as one of the best QBs of all time, and will more than likely have another shot at a Superbowl before his career is over.

hypocrisy at its finest... props to people that live in Indiana/or colts fan prior to 1998.. and didn't hop on the bandwagon like all the vols fans... if peyton was a back up in Oakland... would anyone care? nope.. YOU my friend are a "fair weather" fan

Nice try considering I was not old enough to even understand football before Manning got there nor even have a favorite team, so which train did I jump off of to get on this bandwagon? Also how is liking a team for a player, hopping on a bandwagon when they were not even anything worth watching the first few seasons? Completely different from the addition of who knows how many fans after all those teams won championships?

The person you are following .. you are only following because they are good/ and doing good. Like i said if manning was a backup for another team.. i guarantee you wouldn't be a fan of that team... and i guarantee you wouldn't be a colts fan either.. ... Sick of people on here saying they weren't good the first few seasons... 1998- 3-13
1999- 13-3
2000-10-6
2001-6-10.. bad year.
every other season one 10 win season every other 12+..

I chose them when I was 8, I understand now the concept of following a team now. He could leave and Painter could take over and I am still going to like them. So I am following the team not just Peyton.
