...and technically before SNL, in commercials.

I am excited to see how funny he is on a sitcom. The editing on that show is very clever.

"Coach Gary".... I like that he won't be playing himself. I could see it being funny. N_huffhines is right. It is a smart show with good dry humor.

The guy is a great entertainer whether on the field or off. Never missed a SNL where he was hosting...

That show is great. Who could possibly dislike Ed O'Neil?

Like me, he is probably in his 50s, and today's humor usually leaves a whole lot of us older guys unimpressed.

You know you are getting old when after you give someone the names of your 3 favorite shows, they points out 90% of the stars are dead.

But I am glad to see Peyton is having fun. If he is ever going to coach, I would think he will enjoy himself for awhile. Before he decides he wants to do that, he would need time to miss being involved. To miss being a part of a team. But if that happens, it will be on his timeline.

I'm in my mid-60s and I think Modern Family is hilarious. I don't watch much network tv so I really don't have many current sitcoms to compare it to, but I think the writing is slick and witty, and I like the documentary-type format the show uses where actors will talk to the camera to give a sort of 'behind the scenes' explanation of what is happening in the actual show. Somewhat similar to The Office in that aspect, which was another very good modern sitcom while it was on.
