Schefter reporting live that the 49ers are in the race too. They flew to Raleigh Tuesday before Peyton came to Tennessee, watched him throw, and administered a physical.

If we can't have Peyton, I'd much prefer to see him in San Francisco. Denver is a circus, and Elway is a headcase.

Alex has no one to be pissed at but himself. Sub par career and one year playing well while skipping balls to your recievers in the championship game should have him praying to keep his job. Defense won the niners games....not Smiths arm.

That's probably not why he only has himself to blame here, with this.

The likelihood is he wants more money than the 49ers want to resign him for. This very well could be the reflection of state of their negotiations.
