His control of the game was so special to watch. Such great memories such as the 2nd half comeback against auburn to win the sec title or the 300yd passing in the first half against bama to end the streak in 95. There has been more physically gifted athletes who played for Tennessee but none better.

Seems like just last year he trotted out in the Rose Bowl in 1994 to do battle with UCLA after Jerry Colquitt blew the knee out, tough day in the California sunshine, but he improved every game, mastered every quarterback fake in the book, ran the naked bootleg like Johnny Unitas, hit receivers in stride down the field like Dan Marino, tears and chills conquered the hardest of Vol fans when he came through the T one last time on senior day in November 1997, knowing what we had seen over the past 4 years wasn't likely to be replicated at Tennessee in our lifetime.

To see the whole thing from start to finish needs to memorialized, that familiar shade of orange will turn gold on induction day, Tennessee should be proud to have been a part of it, it doesn't happen very often

There is a video on YouTube titled “Super Manning” where he completely punks the defense in a way only Peyton could do. Before the ball is even snapped, Phil Simms says something along the lines of “He got em”. Pretty incredible to see.

And this is a bit off topic. Drew Pearson gets in the HOF with 489 receptions 7,822 yards and 48 TDs. But there is always a benefit of playing for the Cowboys.

Compare that to these guys that are not in the HOF:

Harold Jackson 579 Rec 10,372 yards and 76 TD
Wesley Walker 438 Rec 8,306 yards and 71 TD
Mike Quick 363 Rec 6,464 yards and 61 TD
Stanley Morgan 557 Rec 10,716 yards 72 TD
Mark Clayton 582 Rec 8,974 yards 84 TD

I know it might seem odd putting Mike Quick in the same category. If not for an injury later in his career he would have put up even better numbers. Plus, him and Walker have two of the best TD per receptions ratios of all time. Amazing that those two caught that many TDs with the amount of receptions they had. And they caught most of them during the 1980s. Harold Jackson was the leading receiver during the 1970s. Him and Stanley Morgan were on the 1979 Patriots. During that season they both had over 1,000 yards receiving and averaged 20 yards per reception that same season. I believe they might be the last duo to accomplish that feat. In my opinion, Morgan is the best former Vol WR to play in the NFL. So I had to include him here.

There are other WRs I did not list who have been overlooked for the HOF. Among them are Sonny Randle, Otis Taylor, Gary Collins and of course Sterling Sharpe. Some will even argue that Gary Clark deserves a spot in the HOF too.

And lets not forget about TE Jerry Smith who should have been in the HOF years ago.
